Guest guest
hashis/graves and iodine Hi Susie, I was diagnosed w/Graves about 10 yrs. ago. Instead of going the RAI route, I " made " my doc put me on the PTU. (I think those are the correct initials) it was a prescription that slows the thyroid down. Anyway, after being on that for 18 months .. I weaned myself off. After about a year and a half , I became hypO. (Hashi's now.) When I finally went to see Dr. Brownstein, I still had the goiter/nodules and my antibodies were still quite high. Since being on 50mg Iodoral daily (and the rest of Dr. B's supplement protocol) my antibodies are down and the goiter is not longer there and nodules are negligible. I am wondering if the kelp you are trying may be too toxic for you. When you have the issues, as we do, they can be made worse with things like kelp. There are those that believe that most kelp is not pure enough to consume. I have never tried it, don't plan to. Just my thoughts. Hi all, I am peeking back in in hopes that someone here can answer my question: I have had hyperthyroidism off and on all of my 42 years. I have read tons of info about not taking anything with iodine when your are hyper cuz iodine can further stimulate an already over stimulated thyroid. Then I read that hypert can be treated WITH iodine. I am so confussed as to who to believe. Now off and on I have tried to take Dr Shultz's Super Food (I took successfully before) and each time I try within one or two days the nodule on my thyroid feels sooo sick it makes me want to throw up. My goiter on the other side doesn't feel so sick though. So my question is could this sick feeling be detox or is it a warning to stop taking the Superfood (which contains Kelp therefore iodine)because of over stimulation? I realize that most (or all) thyroid patients here have hypot, I guess I am just hoping that someone here has heard or read something. I have tried the hypert and graves loops and it seems that most of what I find are those that go the conventional meds route. Thanks for any help!!
