Guest guest
Hello - My father is suffering from Myelodysplastic Syndrome (he makes few mature platelets) and his doctor agreed to try Lowdosenaltrexone. It seems that taking the medication at bedtime interrupts my father's sleep, as he has to urinate every 2 hours or so. Has anyone else reported this problem? Does it go away after a while? Does it help to start the medication earlier in the day? Also, how quickly does LDN begin to affect situations? My father's 'blast' (immature platelets) count went down rapidly after beginning LDN, but we don't know to what to attribute it to. I'd be very grateful for your input. Many thanks, Rhys
Guest guest
Good morning, : What dosage of LDN is your father taking? Did the urination problem occur before or after starting on LDN? When it comes to building platelets, I would not expect to see any significant verifiable results prior to 4-6 months after starting the LDN. And, then you probably only have about a 50% chance at that time. However, I would continue the LDN for at least a year. I would not expect the sudden platelet drop to be attributable to the LDN. Is your father noticing anything like more energy, better attitude, euphoric feeling, etc.? Guest guest
Hi All Anyone care to comment on their sleeping habits? I'm having trouble with burning pain and osteoarthritis pain (from lots of surgery in the past)waking me up at night, and then fatigue later in the day. I take Tramadol for the pain, but the relief really only lasts 4 or 5 hours. I am prescribed to take it every 4-6 hours as needed, but I am losing about 3 hours sleep a night. Has anyone tried a prescription sleep aid they could recommend? I hate the thoughts of another medication (I already take Vioxx for the arthritis, Serzone for depression, and the Tramadol for pain) and the trial and error method of dealing with side effects, but I feel worthless trying to manage fatigue and not " overdo " , and then being bored. Incidentally, my doctors don't have much original knowledge of CMT, so whatever I learn from you all is what we try. I don't know whether to be thankful my docs are pretty easy-going, or to be angry for what they don't know about how to help. So thank you, Everyone, for helping so much, even though you might not have thought about your posts that way. Peace to all Joyce S.
