Guest guest
Ali, You seem to have some thyroid function left. If you are taking a substantial amount of iodine, this can cause a temporary decrease in thyroid output. The good news is that this should only be short term and should give way to a net increase. In the meantime, your Naturethroid is one a very modest dose. This will probably need to increase as the gland gradually fails. Ironically, the iodine could accelerate this, if it triggers the antibodies. Chuck You wrote: > I have been on it for 1 1/2 months. Guest guest
Thanks Chuck. Where can I find out more info on how much to updose to? I would suggest you ask the person prescribing the Naturethroid. If you have an arbitrary supply, learn the symptoms of both hyperT and hypoT and adjust the dose to the slightly hyperT side of midway between where the symptoms start. The manufacturer of Armour (Forest) says that 3 grains is about as much as anyone should ever take. However, lots of people tell me they do not get out of the hypoT range without more. Guest guest
how do you get 81mg of naturethroid? that is too low a dose, the doc is crazy. look at http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com for dosing info. (180--300mg) maybe if you got more iodine (50mg) you wouldn't need much naturthroid. my dreams have become amazing on iodine. Gracia I have been on it for 1 1/2 months. (I also take iodine.) My fatigue is gone, my vocabulary is returning, but strangely some things have gotten worse. My period used to be twice a month. Then with iodine all my PMS symptoms decreased and it began to be normal, every 27-28 days. Now since starting Nature-Throid it came this month on day 23!? I am on 81.2 mg of Naturethroid. Should I be on more, as the doctor said that s/be my max? Also, the good news is I have started to dream & dream in color again! The brain chemicals are an amazing thing. But strangely, a slight sciatica in back of thigh & heartburn, both when I lay down have returned just like when I was pregnant! Any insight on any of this stuff would be appreciated. Thanks. Guest guest
I was on 16.5 mg till I reached 4 but then the pharmacy only carried the 65 mg, so now I take one & 1/4, I cut it up & it equals 82. 5 or 82.2 or something like that. Anyway, I thought " Stop the thyroid ... " only discussed Armour not Nature throid. I'll check it out. I guess I don't know what level of feeling great I am looking for to be a measure of where to stop increasing dosage, ya know? Because compared to 6 months ago, I feel awesome. Thank you much. Guest guest
I took 50 mg/day for 3-4 months and it had no effect on subjective symptoms of hypothyroidism. It did lower my TSH from 2.1 to 1.572 but all the symptoms of hypothyroidism persisted. There is no evidence that Iodine is as good as or better than thyroid meds. I heard that drams are really amazing on LSD! <grin> Steve Gracia wrote: > how do you get 81mg of naturethroid? that is too low a dose, the doc is crazy. look at http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com for dosing info. Guest guest
Thanks Steve. The iodine I take to give the body what it needs, to stimulate the thyroid & clean out the bromide which I have a level of 19 (4-7 is normal for adults). It sounds like I could use a lot more NatureThroid. And as for LSD, I haven't tried it, but I'm still young. Guest guest
I just read " Stop the thyroid etc " And it sounds like 60mg or 1 grain of Armour is the same as 60mg or 1 grain of NatureThroid. Cool. So how gradually do I increase the dose? (Since I only have 60mg tablets.) Is it safe to take 1/2 more grain every 2 weeks up to 3 to 5 grains max? Thank you once again. Guest guest
ummmm...dumb question I guess, since nobody else has asked it already, but have you had a pregnancy test? .... > But strangely, a slight sciatica in back of thigh & heartburn, both > when I lay down have returned just like when I was pregnant! > Any insight on any of this stuff would be appreciated. > Thanks. > Ali >
Guest guest
No but that is really not likely as I have been married for 15 years, ha ha. I thought it might occur for some reason with an increase in progesterone, as my hormones are changing since I started on Naturethroid. Yes, no? Guest guest
Ali, If you are feeling that good now, your incremental increases should be small. You do not want to risk more than a hint of hyperT. Do you have a pill splitter?
