Guest guest
Again, I just read this information from this book and THIS is exactly my problem. I have total body pain that is unresponsive to anything and I just live with it. I was told it was Fibromyalgia, but I really think it's been my Hashimoto's the whole time. Anyway, this says that others have had this too and total ablation...I'm guessing that means they took it out or destroyed it....made them better...ack! Is that an answer for me? Opinions? Could it do me any harm at this point? I was told I have very little thyroid working in one lobe and none in the other. This was like 20 years ago when they did an ultrasound and biopsy. I think I'm up to .150 Synthroid med. _http://www.thyroidmanager.org/Chapter8/8-frame.htm_ (http://www.thyroidmanager.org/Chapter8/8-frame.htm) Occasionally, patients with Hashimotoç—´ thyroiditis have persistent pain which is unresponsive to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, replacement with thyroid hormone, and recurs after therapy with steroids. Kon and DeGroot recently reported seven patients who finally came to subtotal or near-total thyroidectomy, some of whom received subsequent radioactive iodide thyroid ablation, with final relief of symptoms (Kon, YC; DeGroot, LJ. Painful Hashimotoç—´ thyroiditis as an indication for thyroidectomy: clinical characteristics and outcome in seven patients. J Clin Endocrinol Metab 88 2667-2672 2003). **************Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Watch " Cooking with Tyler Florence " on AOL Food.
