Guest guest
How fast does the TSH shoot up if a person without any thyroid gland forgets to take one days or even two days dose of Synthroid? I need to be sure my labs aren't too low so my Doc won't have a hissy-fit. BTW, he THINKS I'm on Synthroid (he,he!) I'm on the big A. Guest guest
The half life of T4 is about a week, so missing a dose or two won't immediately drive the TSH up I would guess. But you're also taking T3, which has a half life of about a day. I don't know exactly how not taking the T3 for a couple of days would effect your TSH in the short term; but I'm under the impression that over all Armour suppresses the TSH more than T4 alone [corrections anyone???]. Unfortunately if your doctor is unaware that you're taking T3 he may conclude that you're over treated and fear that you're hyper [or headed that way] and reduce your prescription. That is, if he knows [and if I'm right] that T3 suppresses TSH more than T4. It's probably not too good of an idea to deceive your doctor. Or your lawyer. If you're having problems that he has not and cannot resolve it's probably better to try to find another doctor that will work with you to alleviate your symptoms. .. .. > Posted by: " gisterla " gisterla@... > <mailto:gisterla@...?Subject=%20Re%3ATSH%2Flab%20question> > gisterla <gisterla> > > > Wed Sep 10, 2008 3:02 am (PDT) > > How fast does the TSH shoot up if a person without any thyroid gland > forgets to take one days or even two days dose of Synthroid?
