I find it is really different for me on the diet, when I get on the program for

a while it is like I do not need to sleep that much. Mind you I go to sleep

fast, almost as soon as I go to bed at 11pm, but then I wake up like as early as

2am all refreshed and work till 8p the next day with lots of energy. When I

junk up on carbs I have to have like 9 hours sleep and even then I am tired all

day.

Hi,

Amazing isn't it? That's why everyone needs naps after Thanksgiving &

Xmas. All those traditional carbs & deserts! Though Turkey can also have

the same effect.

I really miss that 'high' the diet usually brings. Afraid I'm on a

Thyroid dive due to loss of meds.

Hi Bob,

Do you eat VCO late in the evening? I know some people have trouble sleeping

when they eat it late. Also, have you tried the extra magnesium citrate at

bedtime?

==>You should not stop your thyroid meds without having tests done;

have your doctor check TSH levels, along with Free T3 and Free T4.

Synthroid is the synthetic version, and it is best to get the natural

dessicated one, called Armour in the U.S. I'm in Canada so it doesn't

go by that name, but it is the same thing.

Hi, I was not complaning about not sleeping! If I need to be someone who

sleeps a lot, I just need to eat some carbs. I like only sleeping like 4-5

hours for it gives me a lot more time to do stuff I like. When I am off the

diet I can sleep for 10 hours, but if I get on the diet for a few weeks, my need

for sleep goes way down. Mind you, I do not have any truoble going to sleep, I

am fast asleep like 10 minutes after I go to bed! On the diet, I am just

excited about life and want to live it, so I wake up at say 3am and just want to

go! It helps to be in love! Hey Edison and others on slept for like 1/2 hour

a night for all their lives. Sleep in one of the host highly rated things there

is other than tv and bread!

I agree! Too much sleep is a sign of something being off. However,

don't you think that not enough sleep (like half an hour) is not good

either? Hyperthyroidism (and other endocrine malfunctions) sometimes

result in increased energy and reduced sleep. And though it can feel

good at first, if the situation is long standing, it can cause larger

health problems down the road. There are numerous statistics that

link long term reductions in sleep to shorter life spams.

But that said, I do agree, sleep in general, can be overrated. If

your endocrine system is fine and you feel rested after 5 hours of

sleep, there is no need to lie in bed, trying to sleep more!
