Guest guest
Do you feel okay on 3 grains? There is concern of getting osteoporosis when you keep you're TSH below range. Also, where are you getting you're iron supplements? You want to make sure they are not synthetic. CW -- Requesting help with lab results Hello Everybody, I am wondering if anybody could comment on my recent lab results? I had RAI in 99 was on .075mg Synthroid for years. Early 2006 I started to developed endless hypo symptoms despite my lab results being absolutely perfect. My GP practically threw me out of the office since I insisted that I am hypo. Finally found another GP how is dealing with my thyroid, he switched me to desiccated since July of this year. First two pills (60mgs), then in September up to three pills (90mg) - on which I started to feel much better. I had a blood test on 15 November and since then I raised my own dose to 3 1/2 pills. I Feel much much better on 3.5 pills but today I saw the GP and he said he wants me to stay on 3 pills since my blood work is as follows: TSH 0.30 - 4.7 my result: less than 0.05 T4 free 9.1 - 23.8 my result: 11.5 Free T3 2.5 - 5.7 my result: 5.7 Ferritin 13 - 145 13 I go to a GP since I couldnt find any Endocrinologists who prescribe dessicated. Also, I have been on RX iron pills for months but my Ferritin is not increasing, he is suggesting iron injections. Any feedback would be much appreciated, Thank you, Ines __________________________________________________________ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
you might not be absorbing the iron. try the natural forms then if your numbers don't go up then it probably means you don't absorb iron which would mean either injections or IV infusions. nancie Requesting help with lab results Hello Everybody, I am wondering if anybody could comment on my recent lab results? Guest guest
If all my test results, except for the TSH are in the normal range, am I hyperthyroid just because of the TSH? I take 2 grains of Thyrolar, and don't feel well with less. Guest guest
no. your pituitary gland might be malfunctioning as in it can't tell it is sending out too much TSH plus since your thyroid isn't working correctly so, it can't tell the pituitary to stop releasing TSH. I wouldn't go by TSH at all. I would go by the other free t's; revere T3 tests, etc. Requesting help with lab results Hello Everybody, I am wondering if anybody could comment on my recent lab results? Guest guest
wait that doesn't make sense LOL ok see this is what happens when I don't get any sleep! let me try again ok low TSH and normal results for other thyroid tests. No it does not mean your hyperT it means you are probably not taking enough- your T3's and T4 " s should be in the upper ranges of normal. again TSH is not a good test for thyroid function- it is released by the pituitary gland because it senses the thyroid is not working right- but many times it just doesn't work correctly independently of the thyroid gland issues. that is why most all the people here say don't even bother with that test. Guest guest
Thank you. The cardio and the internist go by TSH, but I, so far, have talked the internest into giving me the 2 grains. I have divided the dose, which seems to have stopped the Afib episodes. I wouldn't even have known to do that if it wasn't for you guys. Guest guest
Ines, My initial reaction was to fire your GP. However, his last response does fit the published studies. Keeping the TSH chronically below 0.1 is associated with cardiac and bone problems. Allowing you to stay on 3 grains is right on the borderline. >...but today I saw the > GP and he said he wants me to stay on 3 pills since my > blood work is as follows: > > TSH 0.30 - 4.7 my result: less than 0.05 > T4 free 9.1 - 23.8 my result: 11.5 > Free T3 2.5 - 5.7 my result: 5.7 > Ferritin 13 - 145 13 > > I go to a GP since I couldnt find any Endocrinologists > who prescribe dessicated. You probably won't find an Endo anywhere who will work with dessicated. You will have better luck with an osteopath. I trust you take the iron supplements at least four hours after the thyroxine, right? Chuck
Guest guest
Roni, You wrote: > > If all my test results, except for the TSH are in the normal range, am I > hyperthyroid just because of the TSH?... The old school definition of hyperT is solely based on TSH. They have revised the limits (and often the definition itself) since then, but there is a common concern if TSH is kept below 0.1 . Guest guest
actonel? you might want to use magnesium, iodine, vitamin D instead. of course get enough Armour for the calcitonen. gracia this is why I think docs are poorly educated pill pushing idiots. yeah. my docs are all amped up because my TSH is 0.01 so they are all afraid of AFIB and osteoporosis. But I am not having any cardiac palps and I am taking actonel for the osteo and eating extra calcium and getting a lot of weight bearing exercise. My GP thinks they are fine, my naturopath that I am hyperthyroid. I am on 90mg of dessicated thyroid hormone. I also started one month ago with Lugol's iodine - 2 drops per day. Lab results: Calcium 2.18 range: 2.20 - 2.65 TSH 0.01 0.35 - 5.00 T4 Free 10 10 - 20 T3 Total 1.5 0.9 - 2.4 Free T3 3.1 2.6 - 5.7 PTH 5.3 1.6 - 6.9 I have some trouble falling asleep, but wake up after 4 - 5 or 6 hours totally awake with difficulty to fall back asleep and then being totally emotional and tired the next day but unable to sleep during the day.
