Hey ! How are you? Last time you posted I think you said that you

were getting married! Well....???? As for your questions I will go with my

experiences. I too, had lot's of frozen milk and gave it to my friend who

formula fed her DD. Her DD had constant constipation without the breastmilk.

I was hypo-T at the time and was not on enough T4. There was no obvious

negative effects on her DD. Even with me being super hypo, she was able to

easily digest my milk. I did most of my pumping during the 1st four months

and all 4 of those months I was super sick with hypo so I'm not sure how it

would have effected her if I was optimized. HTH!!!!!! Now back to you.....

hypothyroidism

Subject: Thyroid and breastfeeding?

A woman just posted in a group that I belong to saying that she has a lot of

breast milk left over in her freezer that she wants to donate but no one

will take it because she is on synthroid, lol? She says she is on a " super

low dose " and has " been on it for years " . She said that miniscule amounts of

synthroid are indeed passed through to the milk, but she didn't think it

mattered?

So, I guess my questions are:

1.) Does her taking synthroid matter?

2.) If she was hypoT when she pumped, does that affect the milk?

3.) Ditto, but hyperT

I mean, I obviously know how important it is to be in an ideal part of the

thyroid level ranges, especially when pregnant and nursing, but if she wasn

t - is that a valid concern for others?

Thank you everyone,

(It's been a LONG time since I've posted :-)

Hey Crystal, so nice to see someone I know is still in the group! LoL.

Things on this end are wonderful, but boy oh boy has a lot happened ...

I met a wonderful man, we went on a date, moved in together the next

day, three months later he proposed in Paris, we got married two

months after that, and I am now 30 weeks pregnant (whew!). 6 grains of

armour has been what's working for me lately.

What's new with YOU? :-)

That's very interesting that even though you were hypoT, it didn't

seem to affect the baby. Since a baby has it's own thyroid (obviously,

lol), I wonder if the levels of whoever giving the milk doesn't matter?

Wow that is crazy! Hope you have a wonderful birth and a healthy baby with

a full long life! I'm pretty much the same ol same ol! 5 kids, homeschool

(if that's what it is) still on Armour 2 grains 2ce a day (when I can

remember the 2nd dose). Glad you're doing good! Keep in touch!
