Title of Article: The first comprehensive federal pain care bill..Get Involved

Article:

The first comprehensive federal pain care bill..Get Involved

 http://www.painfoundation.org/

An opportunity has come along that would focus national attention on

pain and increase resources to address pain as a national, public

health issue.  The first comprehensive federal pain care bill, The

National Pain Care Policy Act (H.R.1863), has been introduced into

Congress.  The bill can be viewed in its entirety at:

 http://thomas.loc.gov

The American Pain Foundation, Pain Care Coalition*, American Medical

Association and others enthusiastically support this bill.  But that

isn't enough - this bill will die without the co-sponsorship of your

congressman and others.  We need to TAKE ACTION NOW because without our

legislators hearing from us, there is no awareness or motivation

to promote this important legislation and there will be little hope

for improvement in pain care.

To find out more about the bill, identify your Congressman, and send

a letter directly, go to our website at: http://tinyurl.com/2xnmp,

then click on  " Take Action " to find a sample letter ready to send!

Here is what you can do to get this national health issue the

attention it deserves:

First Step:

1. Hand-write a personal letter to your Congressman (this has the

most impact) and urge him or her to Co-sponsor H.R. 1863.

2. Call your Congressman and urge him or her to Co-sponsor H.R.

1863, or

3. Email your Congressman and urge him or her to Co-sponsor H.R.

1863.

Second Step:

1. Call or send this email to two or more friends and family members

and tell them to write, call or email their Congressman.

2. Ask them to contact 2-3 more of their friends.

3. Don't limit your outreach to people in your own town or city; we

need legislators from all over the country to Co-sponsor H.R.1863.

Third Step:

1. Plan a letter-writing gathering at your church, senior or

community center, school, work-place or anywhere you come into

contact with a group of people.

Your calls and letters do make an impact with your Congressman - it

takes only a few contacts to make them aware of an issue of

importance to their constituents.  This is the best time to encourage

legislators to Co-sponsor this bill - so don't delay - write that

letter, make that call, and ask your friends to do the same this very

day.

It would help us a great deal if you let us know what action you take

and how.   We're hoping thousands of people will be writing, calling

and emailing their Congressman urging their sponsorship of H.R.1863.

We're all in this together and we can get this done - LET'S

ACT!!!!!   Together we can make a difference and make a positive

impact on the quality of care for all pain sufferers.

Sincerely

Will Rowe

Executive Director
