Can anyone explain why constipation can occur when switching into the

diet?

I have been on the diet a couple of weeks, though the saturated fat

aside, was close to it when on the SCD diet for some months

beforehand. I have been building up slowly to where I am now about 80-

90% there with my ratios. What I find hard to understand is why with

all the spinach, chard, green beans, leeks, broccoli, lettuce,

cucumbers, etc. and all that 'lubricating oil', I am getting

constipated??? [And now a hemorrhoid too...Owwwww].

I did not have any problem when was having somewhat more carbos on

the SCD diet previously, so presume it must be something to do with

the fat ratios. It seems so strange with the abundance of good

veggies. I see that Bee has addressed this issue with some tips but

not so simple for me. I am creeping up on the Vitamin C as I always

seemed to get abdominal pain when I tried it before. Lemons and Limes

get very gut 'acidic' for me as yet (re. the drink). Enemas are out

as when I did try them a few times years back the involuntary

straining getting all the liquid out caused hemorrhoids quickly. I am

drinking lots of water. Am not sedentary. Regular once-a-dayer

generally.

I tried a search for this but there are just too many hits and I

could not find anything specific enough yet on why it happens.

Thanks for any pointers. M.
