Guest guest
Hi Betty, I can tell you how I take Ashwanandha but I could never recommend how you or anyone else should. I take 1/2 Teas. 2x a day in a hot drink like tea or decaf coffee. To reacap: I was Dx with HypoT and Hashis in 2002; and had VERY HIGH cortisol readins 2005/2006. I am on levoxyl and cytomel for thyroid hormone replacment. This past May, 2008 I was diagnosed with Stage 7 Adrenal Fatigue‹less than 0 cortisol readings x 4 readings daily. So I consult with a nutritionist. She recommends the Ashwangdra cuz it helps bodies that are over stressed, over-taxed. On an adrenal board, the mod talked about balancing hot and cold it has to do with TCM(traditional chinese medicine) of which I know very little about but my nutritionist has also recommend Rehmenia two are to work in conjunction with each other to balance the fire/ice of the body. Here¹s the stuff I posted to mike on both with a bit more on Aswhagandra it also helps the thryoid to convert t4 to 3: Aswhwagandha: Ashwagandha is one of group of botanical supplements known as " adaptogens. " Adaptogenic plants help living organisms maintain a balanced response to any type of stress - physical, chemical, electromagnetic, or emotional. Rather than working to relieve a specific symptom, adaptogens support the ability of a person's immune, nervous, and hormonal systems to respond to stress in a healthy way. Because it may have sedative qualities, be sure you understand how ashwagandha affects you before driving or doing any other activity that requires total alertness. On Rehemania: Therapeutic Uses and Benefits of Rehmannia Rehmannia is the most important Chinese herb for disorders of the kidneys and adrenal glands. Rehmannia also appears to combat adrenal suppression caused by steroid hormones and has a similar tonic effect on the adrenal cortex as liquorice. A feature of rehmannia is that it is in a small group of herbs that are used to autoimmune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia and Multiplesclerosis. Here is the BEST SITE I have been using for YEARS on all supplements, their uses, and effects: http://209.196.51.230/ME2/dirmod.asp?sid=17E09E7CFFF640448FFB0B4FC1B7FEF0 & nm =Reference+Library & type=AWHN_Supplements & mod=Supplements & tier=1 sue On 8/20/08 2:03 PM, " Betty " <bjshamrock@...> wrote: > > > > I think I missed some posts. Guest guest
Thanks so much Sue. I will keep this in mind. Although my current Endo is working with me, I don't know for how long. I feel that after taking the synthetic thryoid drugs I don't do well on them and back on the armour. I don't really trust the Endo right now to keep me on it. I do have another Doctor in mind to go to if this one does not work out . He does believe in alternative treatment and prescribes armour. The only reason I am not going to him right now is that he is about two hours away from where I live and I have to pay cash for my visits, even though my insurance will pay him. Guest guest
Hi Betty, You¹re welcome. I like my endo a lot cuz she listens to me and treats all my symptoms but she¹s not into alternative at all so I have to pay a nutritionist for that so I understand the cash visits. Most doctors (from my experience) just have so many patients and the insurance company protocols that they have to just treat numbers and that¹s sad but it¹s true. I had <0 cortisol in May for 4x readings that¹s means I was basically running on adrenaline. I took the Ashwagandra and totally changed my lifestyle cut work hours, got in bed earlier, added in good supplements and eliminated wheat and other toxins like sugar, white foods, etc. I retested in late July and my cortisol had already risen a bit 9 3 2 1 in just six weeks. This is with no isocort or hydrocodone or whatever medicine out there. I believe this can be done naturally the chinese have been doing it for centuries ‹ I also lowered my cholesterol 50 pts without drugs. My endo nearly fainted when she saw it but there It was ...... We just have to do what we feel works for us, with the help of a trusted professional to monitor our results. Sue On 8/20/08 3:09 PM, " Betty " <bjshamrock@...> wrote: > > > > Thanks so much Sue. Guest guest
Sue, you had mention that you take ashwanandha in a hot drink. Where do you buy it? I have been doing some research on it and may give it a try. Betty Re: Re:TCM/Sue Hi Betty, I can tell you how I take Ashwanandha but I could never recommend how you or anyone else should.
