As many of you "old" members on this board already know, I have Atypical Chronic Lymphocitic Leukemia (CLL) and since some of you are new here, I'll recap briefly my experiences with CLL and LDN.

I was positively diagnosed with CLL in February, 1998, and upon review of my test results it was obvious that my white blood cells (WBC) started rising back in 1995. They continued to steadily rise with only minor downward fluctuations.

On June 12, 2003, I started taking 4.5 mg of LDN. I experienced a couple of nights of insomnia and then went to sleeping better. However, my leg and foot cramps got significantly worse. So, in about 3 weeks, I reduced the dosage to 3 mg and the cramps got considerable less. I've been on 3 mg ever since.

I noticed that in a short time I was sleeping better, had more energy, a better attitude, and my finger nails were more pliable and less brittle.

June 25, 2003, another set of blood tests were run and my WBC was up to 187k (maximum acceptable is 10.8k), my red blood cells (RBC) were 3.46 (acceptable range is 4.5-6.0), and my hemoglobin (HgB) was 9.4 (acceptable range is 14.0-18.0).

My WBC continued to rise until September 10, 2003, when it peaked out at 214k. I also had an RBC of 3.2 and HgB of 9.4.

I had a blood test in October and my WBC had dropped to 137k. (Hooray!) I had now been on LDN for 4 months.

On November 10, 2003, another blood test was made and my WBC was 190k, RBC was 3.17, and HgB was 7.9. Since the HgB had dropped below 8.0 it was decided that I would try some Epogen(Procrit) to try to build up my RBC. The Oncologist gave me a shot of 60,000 units of Epogen. I went into a tail spin and ended up in the hospital twice because of over-dosing. Upon research and talking to Dr. Bihari, it was evident that the dose should have been 6-10,000 units of Epogen. I had received about 10 times the recommended dose.

Within about 6 hours, after getting the Epogen overdose, my RBC fell to 2.64 and HgB went down to 6.8. I had to have a blood transfusion and received 2 pints. This brought my RBC and HgB up to a life sustaining level.

I've had blood tests on December 15, 2003, and January 5, 2004, and my WBC was 195k. It appears that the progression has stopped. I've been taking the LDN for 7 months now. According to the LDN website, cancer progression has been seen to stop for 60% of the patient in 4-6 months of taking LDN with 50% of those showing signs of remission. If my progression has stopped, I'll be thrilled. If I go into remission, I'll be even more thrilled. I am now looking forward to what I'll be like in a year.

I started taking 10,000 units of Epogen 3 times a week on December 17, 2003, and it appears that the downward trend of my RBC and HgB has slowed. Hopefully with the LDN, my body will soon be able to supply it's own RBC and Hgb without the Epogen.

Hi, Noland,

I'm new to this list and have CLL. I searched the archives and found

your story. How are you doing? Is your WBC down and RBC up? I'm

thinking of taking Naltrexone in conjunction with Artemisinin. If you

want to look into it, do a google search on Artemisinin +Singh. The

PDF slide show of Dr. Singh is very informative. Unfortunately, no

human studies have been done so dosage, frequency, contraindications,

etc. are not definite or if researchers know, they're not talking.

Take care,

Wayne
