It takes a little more heat than that to make trans fats, but those are there too. That is why it is a very bad practice to reuse cooking oils. You get both racimization and isomerization to the trans configuration. Chuck
Guest guest
So save those 'bad' cooking oils for soap making?...According to what I've read, the bad stuff will drop to the bottom and be screened out leaving the good to become part of the soap?...just curious since my whole family has allergies to different soaps and detergents, which makes it really expensive to have to buy only the natural and organic products... Also Chuck, should I be keeping my essential oils in the freezer as well? I hadn't really thought about that, although I do freeze or refrigerate my cooking oils...even if it is a hassle to get them to pour...I just have to set them out a bit ahead of time...and frozen, anticipate our needs in advance to move them to the fridge... > > > > > > But what happens when you heat it to 100 + degrees F in cooking? > > It takes a little more heat than that to make trans fats, but those are > there too.
