I get migraines regularly and have for several years. The number and intensity has not decreased since I've been on LDN - neither are they worse.

Does anyone know what LDN would do for someone with migraine or other constant headaches?Thnx,Chey

Hi Chey,

I don't really know if it was the ldn or not, but I had a 2 1/2 year

migraine

that stopped when I started taking ldn. Sooo....maybe it was the ldn!

Anyway, I now have sinus headaches, and a sinus tab or Excedrin finally

works to alleviate the discomfort where before the ldn, they didn't work

at all. Hope that's of some help. Jim

Hey Jim you’re not the only one it’s

alleviated head pain with I have far less migraines now and before I lived on

Advil… Vitamin D helped a little before I started the LDN too but the LDN

just woosh took away most of it!

Hi Sue,

What cured your migraines? I have had frequent severe migraines for

years. Even with maintenance meds (the one that appears to work

best for me is Depakote) I was usually lucky to get by with only a

couple per week. Since these often lasted multiple days, there

wasn't a lot of the time I DIDN'T have a migraine.

The funny thing is that when I was dx'd with RA, and put on

prednisone, the migraines ALMOST went away. (I still have a few,

but they are much milder, and don't last as long) The bad news is

that the doctor told me that it is probably because of the

prednisone, and there is a good chance that they will come back once

we get my other meds stablized and wean me off the pred.

,

I guess you've discovered a good side effect of prednisone, instead of

all the bad ones. I've never heard of this before.

I also used to have two or three a week, too. I was always having a

migraine or getting over one. I was prescribed two of the old tricyclic

antidepressants for another problem. The doctor said that they would

probably take care of my migraines, too. I thought, yeah, I bet. But he

was right. I hardly ever have one now, as long as I keep taking the

meds, but if I do they're nothing like they used to be.

In fact, last night I had a headache that approached a migraine, but it

was bedtime and the med I keep around just in case has caffeine in it.

I took Tylenol and a Tramadol and put ice on my neck after I went to

bed. This morning, the headache was gone. In the past, they could last

for days.

I think that it should be against the rules for a person to have both

RA and migraines, don't you?

I definitely agree, it should be against the law to have both RA and

migraines!<g>

My neurologist tried me on both Tricyclics and SSRI's to control the

migraines with little success. The Depakote works pretty well, but

it's far from perfect.

The Rheumatologist told me that sometimes if a person has a really

severe migraine that they can't breaik through any other way, they

will hospitalize them and put them on IV steroids to break the

cycle. That's why she's pretty sure that it's the prednisone that

is keeping me from having them now.

I am holding out hope that maybe by breaking the cycle for so long,

my brain will have sort of " forgotten " the pattern of migraines I

used to be in. No medical basis to back this up... it's just my own

private wishful thinking!!!<g>
