I am educating myself and this list is helping me very much. I am learning my limitations on how much exercise activity I can handle. I get nausea accociated with CFS and I have just read some people take tagament or zantac, they are H-s blockers and inhibit the action of histamine and thus the secretion of stomach acid, helping with nausea. I took one today and it did help my nausea. But my doctor has ordered the scope test to go down my throat and look at my stomach because he said I am having way to much nausea. I have that July, 2nd.*********** Chrissy
Guest guest
people who take large amounts of Prednisone often have bone density scans, as Prednisone leaches calcium from the bones. The first bone scan, if done early, can serve as a benchmark; later ones will show how much bone loss has occurred. Please, folks, talk to a very knowledgeable doctor if you are thinking of using echinacea. It sounds to me like exactly what we DON'T need. Debby, I spoke of pediatric needles; perhaps the correct term was butterfly needle. And of course phlebotomy is the word I wanted. My HMO limits the phlebotomist to, I think, three tries on each blood draw. The theory is that after that they tense up too much. Oh, yes, on the blood seeping through -- it will be minimized if you press on the injection site for a few minutes. I had a medical condition in the past (don't remember what) that seemed to cause a lot of "leakage" through the band-aid -- I left a trail of blood once when I didn't notice what was happening. The leakage was due to my blood problem, not to the phlebotomist. No big deal, really, just startling until I learned to watch out for it. Amy, you mention the issue of rubber gloves for teachers when a child is bleeding. Remember the study abstract someone circulated about the incidence of autoimmune diseases in school teachers, derived from cause of death shown on birth certificates? No, Debby, I don't have Hepatitis C, just AIH. Harper
Guest guest
Harper, you were correct in using the term pediatric needles. I just prefer the butterfly because there is less needle with which to dig! LOL.....I have had pediatric needles used too....just that I am a big chicken. If the phlebotomist has a large needle, they think it is open season for digging! As for the theory your HMO has on the three draw limit....I think they are two draws long! Actually, I will give them two chances if they are really really sorry if they miss the first time! Overall, I agree, if they don't get it by the second time, they are way too nervous to find the vein. For me, with the prednisone, if my brain tells my body we are going for a blood draw.....well....those little guys who used to be SOOO willing to let that needle in, run for cover....they hug my bones like there was no tomorrow! Anyway, I am glad I was wrong about the HepC! Whew....AIH is bad enough without having another problem!!! Glad you just have AIH....well...wish you didn't have anything, but since you do, glad you have been able to help us out when we think we are going to die tomorrow! You are an inspiration! debby Re: [ ] Digest Number 2395 people who take large amounts of Prednisone often have bone density scans, as Prednisone leaches calcium from the bones. Guest guest
Oh my, do I detect another brand bashing? It all depends on who is reading the ad and how they interpret it. The hope is that if someone sees the ad and has a severe hearing loss they will want to know more. In finding out more information they will get all the facts about what a cochlear implant is all about. They can do enough research to read about the different brands of cochlear implants and not just AB's. Ad's are to catch the eye and make someone curious about the product. Obviously this is what AB did and it sounds like it was successful. ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 1 Date: Mon, 17 Apr 2006 08:28:11 -0400 From: " MacPherson " <hohbob@...> Subject: RE: Restore Hearing Today With Cochlear Implants - That's Exactly the Way the Hi Alice. Guest guest
Brand bashing? Where? (looks around) Hmmmm, dont see anything going on. Seriously, things are fine until someone says " Brand War! " then there really is a brand war. Tsk tsk... The guy who pointed out the ad is not biased. So why are comments such as his so offensive to a certain group? Its not like he has not down the same with Cochlear. C'mon now, lighten up. Now, MY comment on same ad... WE know that we do not get instant hearing. To those who dont know will either suck it up, or be skeptical. That is marketing for yuh. Now, lets put the " brand bashing " away. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* 186,000 miles per second is not just a good idea -- it's the law. --Anonymous & Dreamer Doll (Guide Dawggie) Newport, Oregon N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup rclark0276@... http://webpages.charter.net/dog_guide/
Guest guest
Maybe because 'a certain group' didn't see his (whoever he is) comments about Cochlear, too, maybe that's why someone saw 'brand bashing'. Do you really, really think that someone seeing that ad (other than someone with other issues, like some mental issues) would really think that they are advertising instant hearing???? 'c'mon' indeed........ Actually, I guess brand bashing and brand wars aren't that much different from each other. Both on the nasty side. Guest guest
, Not in defense of MacP. he can stand on his own. He is like a reporter, see? I am sure if Cochlear published a similar ad at the same time, or any other time, he'd jump on that too. Like I said, he is not biased. As to whether someone might take that ad line hook and sinker, heck if I know, I am not going to take a survey. LOL But I can assure you there are people like that out there. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Official sign near door: Door Alarmed Handprinted sign nearby: Window frightened & Dreamer Doll (Guide Dawggie) Newport, Oregon N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup rclark0276@... http://webpages.charter.net/dog_guide/
