- I asked my doctor if AIH was chronic and he told me no that recovery

would be two years. He did tell me about prednizone. But since he told me I

needed a biopsy and talking to others in this group and reading I am finding

so many conflicting details. I cant help but worry about my upcoming biopsy.

Thanks alot Bethanne - I would be lying if I told you I wasnt scared - I am

Not so much from the poke of the needle but how that poke will change my

life. Part of me feels good about finally finding out once and for all what

has been causing my problems for the last few years. The other part is

afraid of what the rest of life will be like. I am a high school teacher and

it took me a long time in my life to find where I am suppose to be in life.

My job requires a lot of energy and zest to make it through the day. How

much will that change? Thanks for letting me vent to you openly.

The reason for staying on your side and then resting is to minimize the possibility of internal bleeding.

We noticed some time ago that many people in this group are school teachers. We hypothesized that 1) the occupation is linked to AIH, perhaps due to stress and exposure to germs 2) that a disproportionate number of teachers are women, and AIH is find primarily in women, or 3) just that more teachers than others are able to find their way to this site!

,

I had my first biopsy in September and I was very lucky with it( I think alot of this has to do with very competent people performing it) . The only thing that hurt was when they numbed me. I came home after 3 or 4 hours and sat on the floor and played with my kids. I walked gingerly for about a day and that was it. They even took two samples from me. Please don't worry too much and don't read alot about it. There were very few things I read that seemed to be accurate. I read I would be on my side and I wasn't and then I read I had to stay in bed for the remainder of the day and I didn't. I know that many people have pain go up there shoulder and they'll give you something for it if needed. This was the first thing I had ever had done to me since I was 3 and I am very wimpy!!! IT is an important test and worth it. Best of luck!!!

, vent anytime. Technically I am a high school teacher too!! I taught for four years and resigned in 98 to stay home with my kids. I plan on going back in a few years ( My youngest is 8 months old) so believe me when I say I understand the energy required. I can't imagine trying to do it and not feeling well. You may have already said this, but when is your biopsy? Please be sure to let us know how it goes and what they find out!!

Yes, I agree with that idea. Recently, I read where researchers are beginning to think that too..debby
