Guest guest
Hi everyone. I'm back home in NY. Last week I went to visit Skip's and pick up my Rx in person. I met Skip and he showed me his back room, how they mix up the LDN, the checks they make, and how they fill up the capsules. Skip told me that LDN has become his highest quantity production since shortly after _I_ started ordering from him. Then the next day I was going to meet a friend for lunch. He was in North Miami and I was in West Palm at the time. He said we could meet half way and suggested Glades Road in Boca! I told him to meet me in Skip's parking lot which is right off Glades Road. He wasn't sure I was familiar enough with where to met... LOL. That worked out well. I hadn't seen this person since early 1981! Was a great trip. I didn't want to come home. I only miss 1 (2) persons (people)... my Chiropractors. Everyone else I was in touch with via my cell phone's email or IM. I had everything else I needed with me, since I just picked up my next supply of LDN, what else would I need besides a good chiro. On 1/4 I was on the beach at Siesta Key. Was quite crowded too, and 86 degrees (30C). The last warm night was 1/9, my last night in West Palm Beach, it was 72 (22C) overnight. Then the cold front came in, and I headed back up north to Orlando and then Ormond Beach. It was around 52 (11C), but windy. That night I went to see an old high school friend, so I figure I haven't seen him since at least December 1975.. or maybe June, the previous semester when we were in one class together. And so I'm home.. and it's 19 (-7C) at the moment which may be the HIGH through Friday! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Hope everyone is doing well. I have 3 days to catch up on my bills, emails, costs of the trip, unpack... and then it's back to the real world. Long vacations make me realize if I never had to work again, I'd not be bored... POOOR... but not bored.
Guest guest
the red capsule is something new- and concerned me too. Before the capsules were clear and the medication was slightly tinted. I don't know why the change... ----- Original Message ----- From: gateswill@... low dose naltrexone Sent: Saturday, November 13, 2004 6:02 PM Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Skip's Well, now, here's something interesting. I ordered this month's Rx from Skip's instead of using my local compounding pharmacy. Last nite was my first nite to take the Skip's capsule. I woke up at 4 am absolutely WIDE awake! Took me at least an hour to get back to sleep--and I just felt different. When I woke up at 7 am, I realized I was very stiff, but I had not had a vivid dream at all. Now I'm still a bit stiff but moving around seems to loosen me up. So I'm surmising that there is something different about this Skip's pill. Possibly my local compounding pharmacy wasn't doing it right. I would guess that the Skip's Rx is stronger since the stiffness usually comes with increased dosage--right? I'll have to keep an eye on this, but it's interesting. I do have 1 oddball question: The Skip's capsule is red. Do you think that's some kind of weird dye we shouldn't be ingesting? I was really surprised to see that. On the money end: I got a 2 month's supply of 4.5 caps from Skip's for $30, including shipping. I think the pills themselves were only $23 or $26--but that's TWO MONTH's. I paid $55 here for 30 capsules of 3.0mg and $45 for 30 1.5's. So I'm pretty happy with Skip's in this regard. I do think cost is increased by the actual number of capsules (someone was talking about this). If you get 90 capsules of 1.5--they have to fill 90 capsules. But if you get 30 capsules of 4.5--they only have to fill 30. That takes 1/3 the time, so it cuts the cost. I sure hope the red capsule thing is OK because Skip's is amazingly inexpensive, compared to EVERYWHERE else, including the others on the list on the LDN website. Guest guest
There was a note with my last fill saying the capsules are different but the content is the same. I haven't noticed any changes in how they are compared to previous fills. Skip proudly proclaims that he keeps his production to +/- 5% accuracy in dose where the law is only 10% +/1 He said you can tell a well compounded pill if you only see the dye. The 3.0s are greenish and the 1.5s and 4.5s are pink. As long as you don't see ANY white spots, it's completely compounded and the proper dose is well spread throughout the pill. The pills are per capsule, the price should be on the invoice. Then the total order plus shipping/handling of 4.50 I think. ----- Original Message ----- From: gateswill@... low dose naltrexone Sent: Saturday, November 13, 2004 19:02 Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Skip's Well, now, here's something interesting. Guest guest
Hi, Daphne! My son's last shipment from Skip's had red capsules as well - no differences for him in the content or reaction to the capsule itself. What I mainly wanted to comment on here is that it has always seemed to be of the utmost importance that we use a reputable compounding pharmacy for this. We have a compounding pharmacy in the town we live in that a couple of people with MS have used, and their results were not positive ones. One of these people gave up without going any further, even though I begged them to try another pharmacy. Another switched to Skip's and saw excellent results. I have also noted that the " unknown " pharmacies are charging astronomical prices to compound LDN in comparison to Skip's. Cost hasn't been an issue with us, since our copay on the Rebif was almost $300 a month, so I can hardly complain about the cost of LDN, but I see what you are saying. Dr. was really adamant that we use the pharmacy there in Wisconsin, but I refused and insisted on Skip's. He implied that the pharmacy in Wisconsin was considerably more expensive and questioned whether that was my reasoning for using Skip's. I told him that had nothing to do with it - I wanted to use a pharmacy that was well versed in LDN, and Skip had been very helpful to me in the research phase. I have since talked to several people who were not as lucky as I in getting him to fax the script where they wanted, and their successes with the Wisconsin pharmacy and LDN were not as they had hoped. Once they ultimately switched to Skip's, they noticed signficant improvements or changes with the LDN. I really haven't answered any questions here, but I still think we cannot stress enough the importance of using a reliable compounder. Take care, and have a great weekend!
