Guest guest
Hi Helen. I completely agree with you about waiting until Nick is completely off of pred before making any decisions. My daughter's psych wants her to avoid pred completely. She had to go on it this past summer and he wanted us to call him anytime and give him updates. Her issues are different from Nick's, recurrent depression and an anxiety disorder, and he felt the pred could make her too unstable. I think it can go the other way also where it will look like you have issues you don't really have, due to the pred. I would absolutely wait, if I were you. He said it can make kids like manic also, which would cause trouble with sitting still. Congratulations to Nick finishing speech! That is great news. I am glad he is feeling well also. Then if they still think hes " squirrelly " then look into it more. What do you guys think?? I just wonder if him not sitting still is more to do with the JRA or ADHD?? its a difficult call. I just wonder if the SpEd teacher is thinking that just because his older brothers have ADHD he must too if hes a little more active than other kids in his class. ( I do also have a 13 and 5 year old who do NOT have ADHD) At Nicks IEP I am going to request an amazing 3rd grade teacher for him and have him go on to 3rd grade. If hes still struggling at the end of 3rd, ill have him repeat 3rd with her again. She really has a wonderful way with the kids and makes each of them feel soo special. Shes just the kind of teacher Nick needs to relight his love of school. If anyone can do it, she can. On to some great news, after 4 years in speech, is scoring in the normal range in all testing. He will finish up with Speech a 2 weeks!!!!!! o...

Guest guest
Helen, How wonderful that is feeling up to going back to TKD! How far did he get before he stopped? You said your older son was testing for his purple belt so I know our colors are different. is a high green belt (5th belt) and Josh will testing for his 4th belt (green) on Saturday. When all this started we talked with the Master about it and they've been very good about watching and letting him determine what he's able to do. Hopefully once he gets going on the mtx things will get better for him and he won't have to miss so much. We'll definitely try to stop by and say hello at the JAM - way to go Nick on the fund raising!! Guest guest
-Marguerite, Thank you so much for calling the other week. Sorry it got a little wild my end... you gotta love it whenever you pick up the phone and 5 kids decide thats the time they ALL want attention!!!! I know they are going to bring up the whole ADHD issue at the IEP next week. But ill stand my ground and wont let them railroad me into getting him checked out until hes totally off the pred. Thanks for the advice. We are continuing the pred taper and all is going well.. we are now on 2.5mg every day and so far so good!!! im excited. Hugs to you all all.. hope continues to do awesome!!! We will talk to his TKD instructor and see if he can try it for a month to see if hes going to be able to tolerate it. I'm excited, its been a long time since Nick has actually ask to do anything remotely physical. The pred taper has been going great the last 2 weeks, tomorrow will be his last dose of 3mg and then we will stay at 2.5mg for a few weeks just to make sure hes tolerated that drop and then ill try dropping a little more ))) is excited about the JAM.. he has raised $1300 so far!! O. I had his conference at school Thursday night, i am sure at his upcoming IEP meeting that they will again mention possible ADHD. I have 2 kids with ADHD and I just dont see it with him. I really dont want to take the ADHD thing any further until I get him totally off the pred and stable on his other meds. He will finish up with Speech a 2 weeks!!!!!! o... Thats about all the news from here... Hope you all have a good weekend.
