Guest guest
Does anyone know the ratios of glycerine, iodine and ammonium iodide in Iosol? I called the manufacturer/distributor, TPCS, and the woman who answered the phone told me 43% ammonium iodide + iodine and 57% free iodine, which can't be right because this doesn't allow for the glycerine base. Meanwhile I just came across a paper on Hallelujah Acres by son, PhD which states " Iosol is a 4% solution of ammonium iodide and iodine in glycerin. Each drop contains 1.83 mg of iodine, about 0.8 mg as iodide in ammonium iodide and 1.0 mg as iodine (I2) " The son paper, titled " Recent Advances in Iodine Nutrition, " is very interesting in its own right. Not sure I agree with everything he writes but he covers a lot of ground and uses a wide range of sources, including some peer-reviewed journal articles. It is available at http://www.hacres.com/diet/articles/Iodine.pdf . Jim
