Guest guest
Susie, My husband was on it for about a week. He is terrible with medication. He HATES it. He said it didn't do anything for him, and so he went off of it. BUT he was only on 100mg and was supposed to increase the dose. His back problems are 90% better, so he doesn't need anything now. I think there are other members on neurontin that can give you more information. Are you going to take it? a who wishes she WERE a butterfly! It sure would be nice to fly! A little less painful too!! ----- Original Message ----- From: Elf Sent: Friday, March 02, 2001 3:54 PM Subject: [ ] NEURONTIN a (Madame Butterfly) ...just kidding! a, wasn't you whose husband is on the NEURONTIN? Guest guest
I took Neurontin for a year. I responded to it right away. It took away the 'sparks' that I felt in my arms. I took 900 mg a day. My feet still burned on occasion even on N. It was too expensive and also the morning dosing caused my tremors to surge, so I went back to Elavil. We have many previous posts on Neurontin in our archives. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
I have been on neurontin for several years. it really works the only thing I can say is don't take it continuously for years because the longer I took it the more I needed. then i got pancreatitis and was not allowed to take it with the morphine they were giving me in the hospital. so I was off it and then the neurologist started me back at a low does. for me it is a good drug, i use it and hypnosis to help my pain in my hands and feet. cathleen

Guest guest
Hi , I have taken neurontin for about 5 1/2 years. I now am taking 1200 mg daily. I have taken up to 2400 mg per day. That amount was too much for me. I find that it works very well for sensory pain relief in the skin but does much less for muscle problems. It seems to work well on stopping the electric shock sensations, that Gretchen mentioned also. Every now and then I will quit taking it for a while just to check on the progression of this wonderful ailment and I realize how much that it does help. It isn't the answer to management of the type of pain but it really works for me. I am 49 and didn't have any major cmt symptoms until i was 40. I have type 2 of some sort, my neurologists (I have seen three) and the MDA clinic haven't decided yet. Good luck. wade
