Hey sunnfun, I've been on LDN for a week too, 3mg.

I feel a lot stronger, but get really sleepy in the afternoon for a while.

Last night was the first night I didn't actually sleep better than before I

started taking it. Couldn't get to sleep, couldn't stay asleep. And once I

did go to sleep I woke up with a nasty spasm and shock across my lower back.

Not Lhermittes, but at least as obnoxious. It didn't repeat itself.

Another mystery. Isn't life full of them though!

My legs are kind of stiff too, but feel stronger. Can anyone tell me if the

stiffness goes away after a while?

Another thing I've noticed is a change in my appetite. I'm just not snacky

anymore, what a blessing. And my stomach feels better, quite a relief since

I have been mildly nauseated for several months. My insides seem to be

working much better.

Anybody else had appetite changes?

Thanks,

I noticed a change in my appetite after starting LDN. I just don't eat as much and most of the time I don't eat an evening meal. Just not hungry. I may have lost a couple of pounds, but not enough to get concerned.

If the stiffness dosn't go away after a month or so cut back slightly on your dose, opening the capsule and dumping out a small amount works for some until they get a new prescription for a smaller amount . Only one week is way too soon to figure out what will be best though. As I have said before we are in it for the long haul, give it time there is no hurry, this is being tested right now by all of us who are on ldn.and for the benefit of all concerned lets try to be patient. Can this sleepy in the afternoon be your system coming back to life and you are not used to putting out that much?I like too think so!Reg.

It is probable that your leg stiffness and insomnia will go away in 2-3

I live in the UK. How do you get LDN if the doctor won't prescribe it. I have had a word with my MS nurse and she is looking into it. She did say someone else had asked for it but it couldn't be prescribed because it wasn't licensed.

I used to work in NI..Belfast. ANY GP if willing can write a prescription for the liquid form called an extemporaneous prescription, whereby you need a "decent" pharmacy willing to make it up..this gets round the need to use a manufactured capsule with no license, as the tablet form is licensed. It's very easy

That's a good point n .. in the UK even if the GP scripts the

government should cover it. In the Republic though a consultant has

to script for the health boards to pay. Phil and Grace will write

prescriptions n, but the patients have to pay themselves as

neither are consultants. Do you see any legal loop hole here?

Thanks

Not quite true,

if a GP (normal Physician) wants to use a licensed drug at a lower dose,

theyre entitled to do so, and normally ask the Pharmacist to compund an

" extemporaneous " version, normally a liquid. This allows use of micro-doses

of drugs, eg for paediatrics, etc. there is no objection from the Paymasters

(GMS payments board ) to this quite rare type of prescribing. This is why 6

out of my 7 patients are getting liquig form :-) it's free, legal, and above

board

Yes, because the capsules are not a licensed medicine, the Health Boards

will not permit their use, unless a consultant prescribes them. Even then,

the local area Board must make a decision whether to permit them on the

(free) " Long-term illness scheme " ..they woull be more afraid of using an

unlicensed medicine because of risks of litigation
