,

Dr. Bihari told me to take " L-Phenylalanine" 500mg. twice a day for stiffness and/or spasms. It is an amino acid available in any health food store.

Regards,

Tom

There's a difference? I thought I first read DL and that's what I got. I took it a few days and haven't really taken it since... not sure I noticed any difference, but it was only a few days.

Can someone find out if it's L or DL?

Back in November this came up here... this is what I wrote and found back then:

http://www.mwt.net/~drbrewer/lownaltrex.htmDL-Phenylalanine: The amino acid DL-phenylalanine has been reported to slow down the breakdown of endorphins and other painkillers. Daytime usage of this amino acid (taken on an empty stomach) may help to sustain the benefit of nighttime usage of naltrexone by maintaining high levels of endorphins. Also, http://www.metromkt.net/viable/1dlpa.shtmlPhenylalinine is also an essential acid required by the thyroid for normal function. Therapeutically, phenylalinine has been used effectively in several ways: as a pain control, as an antidepressant, to improve memory, concentration and mental alertness, to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, to reduce symptoms of multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease, and to treat the depigmentation of the skin condition - vitiligo. The instructions from Dr. Bihari was to take one in the morning.

Excerpts of my phone conversation with Dr. Bihari. I am quoting.

When I asked Dr. Bihari about any other supplements I should take to help raise my endorphins he said,

"Well if you don't have any high-blood pressure there's a supplement called DL-Phenylalanine " and then he spelled it twice. "It should be taken in the daytime, morning" "It's a good addition to LDN" "It slows down endorphin breakdown and it'll keep the endorphin level higher during the day, especially if your taking it on top of naltrexone"" "500mg once a day along with any other supplements you take."
