Hi Randi,

did the same thing. What cleared up her dry scalp was the

advice I go from someone here. She told me to get Aveeno oatmeal and

at bath time make a paste out of it and put it on 's head.

I put it on at the beginning of her bath and rinsed it out just

before she got out of the bath. It worked great!!!

I was told I could use hydrocortizone cream when I took the band off

for the hour but just make sure its pretty much gone or rubbed in

before you put it back on. HTH

There were many uses for naltrexone years ago. My neuro used it for psychotic patients in the 70s who were prone to hurting (cutting) them selves, Endorphins are powerful things, as we are all learning

Yes you are being optomistic but why not How long does grassroots apply? I found out about this only five months ago I guess it could be time to cut the grass.I just wish that the people that we look up to, the doctors that is, would not spout off before they read all the info given them. It's what us illinformed laymen do. not university trained profesionals, but yes some of my itchy stuff is gone now that you mention it. Or is it just because it is winter and a lot less sweating happens now?

low dose naltrexone

Subject: [low dose naltrexone] itching?

Dear Group, A member of my EN Group asked a dr. about naltrexone. He statedit was used to "stop itching, and that this may cause the endorphinsto rise". Has anyone experienced a lessening of itching while on LDN?I don't think this dr. is aware of how the low dose behaves incomparison to the usual 50 mg. dose. The website explained this quitewell. Is this a "grassroots" movement? The group seems to be growingvery quickly and I imagine other doctors will want to investigatethis, or am I being optimistic? Best wishes to Everyone! Love,

I've actually got enough sensation now to FEEL an itch. So Naltrexone is

not stopping my itching but enabling me to feel it. Anyplace I have dry

skin is announcing a need for lotion by sending an itch message which is

finally getting through to my brain. LDN has also given me a greater

understanding of how cold a toilet seat can be in the middle of the night...

I could have done without that.

I have been taking LDN now for almost three weeks, and am no longer taking

baclofen, don't need pain meds, and sleep through the night. I also am

walking much better, and have lost numbness in my feet and tingling in my

legs.

Please continue reading this message board, and read the LDN pages.

Best of luck,

Pam

Dear Pam,

The " itching " question was posed to me by a member of my erythema

nodosum group by way of his wife's doctor. Why people are so reluctant

to join a group and " look through the telescope " is beyond me. I don't

have a condition for which LDN is recommended , yet I am still

interested in finding out all I can about LDN. Maybe it can't help me,

but it can help others on my group who have different autoimmune

disorders. So far, I must say I am very very impressed. It really is

about time something new came down the pike that worked. Too many

people suffer with these " rare disorders " .

Please keep me posted on your progress. I wish you and all the

brave people on this group the very best!

I got itchy bumps on my neck and back starting in August. Put bandaids on

them and found out I was allergic to the adhesive (sigh). I had about 50-75.

Had the dermie do an autopsy on one (non-conclusive) .....he gave me some

SUPER ointment, but it is high in steroids and can only be taken for two weeks.

But it worked better than the whimpy cortisone that most give...

I think it was the Humira, I cut down, bumps are still coming but do not

itch.

What fun!

I have been itching like mad for over a year now, especially at night, and

especially my upper arms, though it is all over and all day. I don't know

if this has anything at all to do with the arthritis. It may be from

hypothyroidism, or may not. Docs don't have an answer. They say I may

never know the answer. I take Zyrtec (antihistamine) at night, have a

cortisone cream to rub on my arms, and still have to go to bed with icepacks

on my arms in order to get the itching to numb enough to get to sleep.

Another possibility is " going through menopause " though don't know how old

you are. If you ever find a reason, please let me know too. It drives me

nuts, and makes me keep waking up all night long.

[ ] itching?

Curious if anyone else has had a side effect of itching.I started humira

almost a month ago and lately I feel itchy all over, its horrible, no rash

or

anything, just itchy and I was wondering if this is a problem with anyone

else.

If it keeps up I am gonna talk with the doc when I see him, but for now I am

going insane

Does that cause itching? I am 43 so that could be it. My itching is mostly

on the legs and the behind the most, its driving me nuts. I also take singulair

and Zertec but they are not of any help

I am 35 so not in menapause. I am taking humera though which i see

was mentioned in another post. I've been raking my brain trying to

remember if the itching started before i started the humera. I'm

thinking it did but i couldn't say for sure.

of course since i live in WI the winters are really hard on my skin

to begin with; i'm sure that is compounding the problem.

Yes, I just started the Humira only 2 shots so far, I did not have this

problem before. We live in the Deep south so I don't think its the weather,

just

wondering cause I was more worried that it might be the water from our well,

since it gets worse after a shower. I have only been having this problem a

couple weeks now

I too have this itching....especially at night.....only a couple of

months diagnosed with RA..and EBV...and originally it was more like

pin pricks only on my legs...now it is randomly spread on shoulders and

upper arms and the last two nights it went directly to itching. It

too is driving me nuts and prescribed cream and Nizrol is not

helping. I do not think it has anything related to menopause. I'm

61 and that was over for me 12 years ago.

Several people with scleroderma have told me itching is just part of

it. Have you noticed if skin is getting " hard " where you itch? I ask

because myt legs are the biggest itch for me and I do have

hardending there as well as some on trunk too.

Nope, no hardening. Just feels all prickly, especially in the shower. I

talked with my allergist to make sure its not my allery shots, but she said that

it would have happened right away after getting it and since my shot strength

has not changed that she really does not think its that. I guess I am gonna

make a call to the rhumy and ask
