it could possibly be from the Prednisone. I recently had my eyes checked and my eye doctor stated that I needed to have them checked about every 6 months due to the prednisone affects them and could cause glaucoma.

I know that Prednisone thins your skin? Right? I saw the ophthalmologist. I don't have uveitis or glaucoma?

Hi Colleen,

Glad to hear from you again...I recall we spoke via email when you

were first being diagnosed!

Well, I have had the blood shot eyes, but mine were around long

before the meds. It was one of the first things I noticed when I

started feeling like something was wrong...I never had any real

noticable symptoms, though. I still have the blood shot eyes

sometimes and don't know why.

Also, Imuran does cause hair loss and my hair has been falling out

ever since I started taking it. It became worse when I lowered my

prednisone and increase my Imuran dosage, so I am certain that is

what is causing it. Try Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. It is

expensive, but has helped me with this some.

Best,

I've never had bloodshot eyes caused by any meds - have you got dry eyes? Bloodshot eyes for me was always another sign that my BP was on the up again which required a further increase in my BP meds. I guess you have regular BP checks? My meds never caused hairloss but once my LFT's were more under control my hair grew back.

There you are! I was just starting to think that you might be facing some

heavy stuff with your kids. Thinking of Kate and your family and hoping that

she turns a corner for the better soon. Poor baby!

I was hoping that you would see Becki's post (I was referring to you when I

said that another family was having SCIG reactions).

Sending healing wishes,

Becky,

I work with a home care company that has been really helpful with tips

to lessen the side effects...

Who are you using to get the Vivaglobin?

We are on Gammagard Liquid and infuse once a week... had the

" aseptic Meningitis reaction to IVIG>>>and we don't even premed now with

SCIG>

Re: Blood shot eyes

>Dana,

I am so sorry to hear that one of your pumpkins is in the hospital! I

hope all is going well and will keep you guys in my prayers.

We actually already tried the Polygam & Gammaguard on Reagon in

IVIG form and she reacted to both of them even with premeds/postmeds

and with it given over a 9 hour time period. Even worse than she is

to the SCIG. I get frustrated putting her through this when there

is absolutely no difference in her health if she is on IVIG or off

of it. The kid is never sick. My older daughter just tested

positive to strep and Reagon drank after her and still didn't get

it. But I can also understand the drs. point of view...a kid with an

IGG of 40, in their point of veiw, is likely very at risk. I guess

we'll keep plugging along on the SCIG and see if her reactions get

better. Any info. or advice you can dig up would be greatly

appreciated though. The drs. here just looked at me like I was

crazy when I told them.

something that I thought was really important. SCIG does not take

away all reactions - just the anaflaxis (sp?) . still got

horrendous headaches. Like you, the frustration came in for me when

we were getting headaches 2 times a week (we were doing 1 gram x2

weekly) - I could not stand it. I made the decision to go back to

IVIG - because it was better to go back - and have it be one time

every three weeks - not 2 times a week. HOWEVER - when we went

back - we switched from Gammunex to Polygam (which will soon be

called Gammaguard S/D). We got no headaches, then I had the nurse

slowly up the dose, and again no headache. Now - we're at max rate

with no side effects. I'm not saying it would help Reagan - but

just a thought.
