Guest guest
hi guys, this isn't really aih related but i'mwondering if anyone has had experience all the same.i had minor bloodpoisoning in my left arm,i was put on a course of antibiotics, and they cleared it up brilliantly, only thing is i feel worse,my dr tells me it's serum sickness,it is NOT fun i cantell you,as per treatment he gave me 40 mg of prednisone (ahh the memories hehe) and basically just try to keep my temp down,i'm to go straight to hospital if the symptoms get worse,he suggested hosp when he came out just a min ago,but as you'll understand i think,if it's not necessary,i prefer to not go in.so basically has anyone experienced serum sickness, how long did it last? and what effect if any on AIH? Thanks guys Amber _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
Guest guest
Macey had this type of reaction to a penicillin when she was 4 or so. Same symptoms plus some whelps. We stopped the antibiotic and did antihistamines. Maddie was an cefzil-which she has taken many times as she responds well with it. at the end of the ten days she got a weird rash and then came on the severe joint swelling and pain. We have done a week of benedryl and steroids and she seems to be worse . Her sister did the same thing with a cephalosporin years ago-but Maddie has always been fine. This morning she has basically one big leg-no knee or ankle-her fingers were swollen at the beginning of the week but they are better now. She has stayed home one other day and went to school the rest-she just missed 10 days for something else. The doctor wants to see her today-and of course I can not take her as we are in the middle of kindergarten bound iep meetings-so my dad is going to take her. Any body else ever have this and what was the treatment? We are going on a week now with little improvement. Maddie is not one to complain of pain-so this has me worried.
