Crave for soybean milk

Soybean milk is not milk, but a drink made from soybeans.

Before I was dxed with Hashi's and hypo, I often drink it especially I

have too much salt in the food. Now I know soybean is not good for

thyroid goiter, but I also know that soybean is a good supplement for

estrogen hormone for females. sometimes I crave for soybean drink/milk

and couldn't help buying it. It is so delicious, could be helpful for

Estogen hormone, too.

What is your thought? Should I have it occasionally? Or there is

something else that can take place of it?

Thanks in advance!

Nancie,

Rice milk is very different from soy milk..lol...I don't know how to say

about that. But actually I have a diet of oriental style, so rice is

essential every day, too.

I wonder if the craving for soybean milk could prevent the possible

Estrogen deficiency in the future. My family member suffers from it even

though I am not sure if I would also have that problem or not.

Soy milk is not fermented, so it would be a goitrogen and if you are hypothyroid

it could negatively impact that. I drank soymilk for two years because I can't

drink commercial cow milk. I steadily got sicker and kept wondering why, and as

that was the only thing I had changed, it was pretty logical that it was

responsible for the worsening of my already bad thyroid condition. I now drink

either commercial goat milk or raw milk when it is in season and I actually feel

my best on the raw milk, cow or goat. I only use fermented soy products now, and

that in moderation after my last fiasco with soy.

Ultimately you're responsible for your own health, so you have to make

the decisions. About all we can do is to try to help you get accurate

information. I don't know the answers to your questions. When it comes

to soy I generally suggest you put " soy toxins " into Google and read a

few of the half million plus hits you will get. IMHO soy generally IS

NOT good for you.

Luck,
