Pituitary you think?? WAS Re:swelling face as I go hypoT off meds - causes

Hi there .

 

I just came from picking up a personal copy of the labs.  I am so confused here

and of course have to hold it in until New Year passes - no doctors to call.  I

went off 1.5 grains of Armour cold turkey on Dec 11:

 

My labs

 

TSH on Dec 11

0.27  (ref range 0.32-5.00)

fT4

0.6   (ref range 0.7-1.9)

TT3

102  (ref range 59-174)

 

My antibodies TPO was 220 (ref range 0 - 34)

 

Prior to these Dec 11 labs, my TSH, fT4 and T4 were always running below normal

range on my 1.5 a day of Armour.

 

I went to the ER last Friday night with excuriating headache that had been going

on for days.  Found out about the high blood pressure which was confirmed Monday

through testing at my regular doctor's office. 

When the ER ran my thyroid labs I was shocked at these results after only being

off meds for 15 days:

TSH  115.35  (ref range  0.45 - 4.5)

T4  0.8  (ref range 4.5 - 11)

fT4  0.1  (ref range 0.6 - 1.6)

 

I was going to chase down that issue of whether my adrenals are functioning well

enough.  You say pituitary because of the spike in TSH.  I will have a number of

labs back hopefully by Jan 8 to see where things stood as of this past Monday.

What could the absence of Armour being causing the pituitary to do and why such

a quick, dramatic spike in TSH?!

 

I feel pretty lousy health wise thanks to this bright idea to go off meds. 

Hopeful the New Year brings better times for all.

I don't know, but with a TSH as high as I think you reported I would

think you would need T4 immediately if not sooner. Either that or find

out why your TSH went so high is only three weeks. My understanding is

that normally even without a thyroid function at all it should not go

that high that fast, so maybe something else is going on. I have no

idea what beyond a possible pituitary malfunction.
