Synthroid is certainly bio-identical, although a synthetic product. It

may not be natural, but I don't think Armour is, either. Since Armour

has a higher ratio of T3/T4 than the human gland produces naturally, a

ratio which is artificially maintained by processing, you might say that

both are equally unnatural.

I also found out that about 95% of T3 is absorbed, while much less of

the T4 is absorbed, less than 80%, even under the best circumstances.

That means that thyroid hormones from Armour hit your blood stream and

tissues with a much higher ratio of T3/T4 than those tissues would ever

see " naturally, " from the controlled conversion of T4 to T3 in the

vicinity of those tissues.

This higher than natural concentration of T3 is now being cited by

various ant-Armour groups as being damaging to those tissues. I do not

buy it, myself. I think the system has more than enough feedback control

to compensate for a little too much T3, but this does reflect on whether

a high T3/T4 source is " natural, " even if it comes from slaughtered

animals, with a little refining, concentrating, and some fillers.
