My sleep was affected for about the first month, but it then got better. Due to excessive stress with my ex-husband (like I don't already have a full plate) I have started taking Tylenol PM before bed. It helps, and my doc says it is OK. I hardly ever have to take aspirin-type products during the day, so maybe I'm not hurting anything. I just have to have my rest, and so do you! That is when the body has a chance to repair itself!

Hi I ve been receiving this digest since I began LDN at the beginning of feb2004.

It has been invaluable to me ,as I navigate the LDN path.

But I am having huge problems with sleep deprivation and leg stiffness increase that's painful(New I only had minor leg stiffness before). The only benefit was improved balance only on the first day after I took the first dose.

I literally have only a couple of hours sleep per night and it is not dose dependent.

This is my 3rd month and I started off on 3mg, then to 4.5mg ,then back to 3mgand then to 1.5 mg.

Im considering seriously stopping it because its torture.

I had a few problems with sleeping before but nothing like this 2 months without much sleep and im desperate .Improved sleeping was one of the things that attracted me to LDN. so my GP will not give me sleeping tablets .Strong herbal sleeping tablets are not much help either.

Just out of interest mine has cellulose as the F. R.filler and no colour in the capsule. Im also on no other meds apart from the oils and multivit.I have never taken the CRABS. Some thing you should all be aware of.My mother has ms too.

She's in a home now.But we have the same sort.A couple of attacks in your early twenties ,late teens then nothing much for twenty years. It is one of the known 4 forms of MS .I was finally diagnosed at age 39 ,7 years ago. .

Because of this , im leaving an open verdict on LDN stopping "MS dead in its tracks"

Both me and my mother (an ex immunologist) would have to see more hard data on this.

BUT it is obviously of great benefit to many people who don't have the degree of sleep deprivation that I have experienced or other forms of MS so

Keep up the good Work!

I slept very poorly before LDN. I dealt with it then by using melatonin every night. After a few months I would be able to quit using the melatonin for several months before the sleep problem would return and I would go back on it for a few months again.

When I first started LDN I slept wonderfully, then after 5 or 6 weeks I started having trouble sleeping again. Now I'm back to the melatonin, and I'm sleeping better again. I'll keep using melatonin for a couple of months, then try sleeping without it. It seems to retrain my body to sleep well, and the "training" wears off after a while.

Someone else here mentioned Tylenol PM, which does a great job of helping me sleep but also leaves me very drugged feeling the next day. It does seem to do a great job of relaxing me while I sleep, so I may try it on a Friday and see if I'm less stiff the next day. I know a lot of people who don't feel hungover after the Tylenol PM, I'm think I'm just a wuss when it comes to meds.

Why don't you try the Tylenol PM or the melatonin for a while before you give up the LDN? If you can get some rest you may begin to see some benefits from the LDN and want to continue taking it.

Best of luck!

Johanne,

Thanks for the hope on the stiffness. Maybe someday I'll wake up and have

fairly soft muscles again instead of these weird things I wake with every

morning.

Dear Lori,

I don't think you will know about sleep and LDN until you try it. I had serious sleep disturbances and now with LDN I sleep MUCH BETTER. But it doesn't work that way for everyone. But do try it for at least a month, you may be happily surprised.

Hi Marcie,

I think the part of Tylenol PM that makes you sleep is Benadryl (diphenhydramine). That alone may help you to sleep and be nicer to your liver. Ask your doctor. Continuous Tylenol is tough on the liver.

I haven't started LDN yet. I'm worried about the sleep disturbances more than anything because I've already been diagnosed with a sleep disorder. (The sleep specialist says I don't sleep). Does it just not let you sleep or do you feel bad too. I don't know how else to say it but "it hurts" when I try to sleep and can't.

I slept great for the first five weeks. Now I wake up several times a night but am able to go back to sleep. I'm not sure now if it's the LDN or the hot flashes that started a few weeks ago... At least now when I'm asleep I'm really resting.

Amen to that! One minute a nudist camp sounds like a sensible way of life;

a few minutes later I'm looking for a sweatshirt!

I had seriuos sleep problems before the LDN. I couldn't sleep at all. Then I started LDN 10 months ago. I get right to sleep and sleep very good except I was still getting up every 1 1/2 to 2 hours to use the bathroom. I never saw any improvement in that . I even posted a letter a short while ago about it. Maybe it just takes more time for some people. I am happy to report the changes that have taken place in the last week. I sleep 4 to 5 hours now without feeling the need to use the bathroom. So much better. Like I said I have been on the LDN for 10 months. I hope that I continue to see changes for the better as I get into this beautiful drug. Thank God for LDN and for God to help me find LDN.
