Jane,

Glad to have you here and welcome! I agree with Jess that it is probably OK

to have it off when you go outside, but whenever he is inside with air

conditioning he should probably wear it. With his young age he will be

finished and out of the helmet before you know it!! I would be especially

cautious about having his helmet off when he is riding in the car in his

carseat or sitting in his stroller etc.

I guess this is probably not what you wanted to hear. If you feel strongly

about this perhaps you could discuss it with your orthotist and see what

he/she has to say.

Good luck and I hope to see you around here some more! I would love to hear

more of your story.

Hi Jane! I would say since he is so young that he would benefit more

if he wore it all the time. I know it's hard when it's so hot.

Maybe take it off of him when you are outside or go somewhere.

That's what we did with Bryce. Whenever we went out we would take it

off, but as soon as we got home we put it back on. He wore the

STARband. We saw MAJOR improvement. So apparently it didn't hurt to

take it off of him when we went out in the heat!

Hi Jane:

Do you mind me asking where abouts in Michigan you are?? We live in

Grand Rapids, MI. I'm glad you 're seeing good results thus far.

I'm not sure about just having him just wear it at night, if Abby was

still in her band, I'd probably just have her wear it at night, esp.

in this hot & humid Michigan weather right now, it's horrible! I'm

glad she graduated just before it got really sticky. Good luck

Wow-you are really close-we live in Grattan Township. We have an Ada

mailing address, but we are in the Lowell school district (kinda the

middle of nowhere). We did live in the city of Grand Rapids for five

years before we moved out this way 3 1/2 years ago.

Jane,

We take the band off at our discretion also....being in yucky, humid So. Florida, we take it off if we feel it would be too hot, in the car, outside, etc. Granted, we don't do this a lot as it would defeat the purpose, but if I'm sweatin' bullets, I don't want to torture him and he is still making progress wearing it 20 hours a day on some occassions.

I wish we had air conditioning throughout our house! The only air-

conditioned room in the house is our bedroom. n's crib is still

in our room because I can't bear to make him sleep in the helmet and a

hot room.

Hi All ...

Until about a week ago I had never even heard of LDN. In this past week I have heard many things about this drug and all of them positive. (which to me says this must be a pretty helpful drug since in most forums you will hear plenty of negatives.) One thing I have not been able to find is how it is administered. Shot? Pill? Patch? Are there any side effects of any sort?

I was diagnosed with RRMS in 1993, I have taken Betaseron, Avonex and Copaxone and I just cannot deal with the interferon side effects and it seems I am allergic to something in Copaxone.

Thanks for any info you can supply. (I'm gonna have a hard enough time convincing my neuro to prescribe this ... might even try my GP - but she always consults him on stuff like this so I am going to need to have all my pigeons in a row)

Nikki: welcome to the group.

JR has given you good advice. Please read our files carefully especially

those directed at newbies. They'll explain how to transition into CRON.

We've put a lot of work into these files because the questions you've asked

are often asked by newbies.
