Guest guest
I have been on Armour (1 grain split into 2 doses) for 12 days and generally feel better (brain fog clearing fatigue reducing)but have had a return in some symptoms. Have also began to dream and remember them - must be 12 years or more since this happened. One grain of Armour is insufficient to get rid of all your symptoms, the average is 2 1/2 to 3 grains, with many taking much more and some getting back their health on even 1 1/2 grains. You need to increase by half a grain every 3 to four weeks and keep doing this until you actually DO feel the adverse reactions - these are palpitations, sweating, dizziness, feeling 'spaced-out' and generally pretty yuk! This is because your body is telling you it has now enough of the thyroid hormones and you are getting the toxic reactions from taking too much. At that time, stop the extra increase and go back the next day onto the dose you were taking before, and that is usually your sweet spot. That is the dose your body requires, probably for the rest of your life - though the older one gets, the less thyroid hormone is required. As you have been on 1 grain for 12 days, you could add another half grain when you have been on that dose for 3 weeks. I have also started taking iron tablets (although could not get ferrous sulphate tablets so take black strap molasses with added chelated iron). Adrenal support meds, Vit D and Vit C. I think that maybe I am not yet taking enough of these supplements although I am following the guidelines on the bottles. Taking what is recommended on the bottle is insufficient - those recommendations are for the daily recommended requirement for those with normal health. You are taking these because your body (because of low metabolism) isn't making sufficient so you usually have to take them in quite large doses. The amount of Vitamin D you take depends on how low your vitamin D level is - have you had this tested. Some people need to take a course of vitamin D of 50,000mgs for a few weeks to build this level up . Vitamin C we usually recommend at least 1000mgs (but more if you can take it) - you should also be taking 200mcgs Selenium with meals because this helps in the conversion of the mainly inactive hormone T4 to the active hormone T3. I am wondering now if some of the reason why I felt so rubbish on Thyroxine was because I have never been told about how or when to take the tablets. Took them with a cup of tea and breakfast for about 12years!!! Try taking them when you go to bed. PS. Can someone please tell me how to view the information you have in the 'files' section as whenever I click on these it comes up with Adobe and then a message that it cannot read the information? Not very computer savey here..... so very confused! Go to the Home Page of this forum web site thyroid treatment and on the left hand side, click on FILES. On the page that opens, click on whatever file you want to know more about - there's a lot of reading, so, make yourself a cuppa, put your feet up and enjoy.
