Guest guest
HI , I'm from Cork, living in Waterford at the moment though. I've been trying to get LDN here in Ireland too since early January. I had an email conversation with my neurologist Dr. Sweeney in Cork for almost three months trying to get him to prescribe me it. In the end I ended up in bad terms with him and he really got me annoyed and frustrated. There are few other people here on the list from Ireland unfortunately. I know in Galway is here, and as far as I'm aware he gets LDN from Dr. Hennessey(neurologist in Galway) but I'll leave him explain that to you as I may be wrong. I've also heard that Dr. Hutchinson in Dublin prescribes LDN but I dont' think he does anymore. THe reason I know this is because I've been in close contact with Dr. LAwrence in WAles the last few months and Dr. Lawrence has told me that Dr. Hutchinson did his own little study on a few patients with LDN...this study of course wasn't done exaclty the way Dr. Lawrence or Dr. Bihari would have it. Supposedly Hutchinson used the liquid form of LDN in his study too and and supposeldy there were no positive results from any of his patients so in the end he scraped his study and as far as I know he's not prescribing it anymore. Dr. Lawrence doesn't like using the liquid form of LDN as if you're not careful it can become unstable...hence Dr. Lawrence supplies capsules and he always uses calcium carbonate filler too as he reckons it poses less problems for people with MS. The liquis form of LDN can be obtained free here though if you do manage to get a script from your Neuro and if you ahve an LTI card. I had a huge arguement with my own neurolologist because my neuro said he checked with all the other neurors and none of the are prescribing LDN for MS and they won't be either unless a clinical trila proves it beneficial. This got me so mad as I know HUtchinson and Hennessey have prescribed...and I told my neuro this. Anyway I gave up in the end as I was getting nowhere and my neuro even suggested in a sly way that LDN was another snake oil.....GRrrrrrrrr. Anyway , what I'd suggest you do is print off the LDN information here at the LDN site and try your Neuro and GP if you already haven't. I hope some other Irish might pop out of the wood work here and maybe give you good advice too and tlel you what doctors prescribed for them....but as far as I know it's damn hard here in Ireland to get it. I still haven't started LDN as I was fighting to get it for months. In th emeantime I was on a waiting list with Dr. Lawrence and I should at last get my first supply within the next week I hope. As far as I know Dr. Lawrence isn't taking any new patients at the moment but maybe he'd put you on a waiting list too. MY email address is @... if you'd like to mail me and I'll keep in contact and try help you more.
