Dear Members:

Does anyone know if there are any trials going on with ulcerative colitis since

it is very similar to crohns's.

Dr. Jill is currently enrolling patients in a 4 month study to

test the effectiveness of a low dose of naltrexone in offering relief

to patients suffering from symptoms of Crohn's Disease.

Eligibility Criteria

18 years of age

Have endoscopic or x-ray confirmed active Crohn's disease

Have normal liver enzymes

Not have a surgical ostomy or ileocolic anastomosis

Not take tacrolimus, cyclosporin, mycophenolate or Infliximab for 4

weeks prior to entering study

Study Protocol

Participants will have a complete physical, blood work taken, keep

symptom diaries, complete questionnaires and continue with follow-up

for 4 months.

Cost of medication, office visits, and blood work are paid by the

study. This research has been approved by the Institutional Review

Board, under FDA regulations, at Penn State's College of Medicine.

Interested patients contact Bingaman, R.N. at 717-531-8108.

Sherrie,

I believe the only trial going on now is for Crohn's and it is the first for LDN. If your daughter wants to try it though all she needs to do is get a doctor to prescribe it. It is already an FDA approved drug.

Hi Sherrie,

There is a study in progress at Penn State University to determine if “LDN”

will help Crohn’s Disease.

Sherrie,

If you look at the homepage of the low dose naltrexone.org site you

will see ulcerative colitis listed there as one of the conditions

that Dr. Bihari has used LDN to treat with positive effects.
