I haven't been able to find out much about this effect. Seems some

AIDS patients say it IMPROVES appetite. This leads me to wonder if it

isn't a very similar effect to what opiates have on appetite.

If this is the case, then no, it won't come back on its own. It will

have to be " rediscovered " ...meaning adjusting your lifestyle to a

degree to where you can become more sensitive to your appetite. Any

kind of activity or therapy that " opens you up " , so to speak

(emotionally, psychologically, spiritually...however you want to put

it) can probably enhance your sensitivity and restore at least some

lost appetite.

Actively trying to enhance your sensitivity like this has its own

risks, though, so you may want to live with the situation and just

treat eating in a different way...the need to eat doesn't go away,

just the desire, and that could even be a *good* thing if you're

naturally attracted to junky foods.

I don't understand this part of your message, because it is my

understanding that prednisone will raise your blood sugar, whether you

eat or not. With me, the more carbs I ate, the higher my blood sugar

got. It's too bad you don't have a meter to test and see what your

blood sugar is when you're not eating much. Sue

I am not on Prednisone, but I have no appetite. I think the Lupus

causes it for me. I have to make myself to eat too. I know when

someone if flaring, people seem to lose the appetite.

I'm glad your going to the doctor soon, Tawny

Type 2 diabetes sometimes presents itself at first with hypoglycemia.

Have you been checked for diabetes? Does it run in your family?

Prednisone has been known to give people diabetes. I have diabetes, but

I had it years before I was diagnosed. For that reason, I have little

diabetes antennas that pop up when I hear certain symptoms, LOL.
