Guest guest
<Anyhow, my question is... I have to stop LDN until the treatment is over and I have done the 1 week Prednisone taper off. How much time must then pass before I can begin LDN again?> With the caveat that no one really knows, you answer your own question. I personally would wait between 1-2, preferably 2 weeks after the pred treatment. The reason is that some steroids can bind to the opioid receptors on the brain. (see reference below). My speculation is that if steroids bind to opiate receptors, they may actually increase endorphin levels similar to LDN. Yash Authors Gutierrez M. Menendez L. Brieva R. Hidalgo A. Baamonde A. Institution Departamento de Medicina, Facultad de Medicina, Oviedo, Spain. Title Different types of steroids inhibit [3H]diprenorphine binding in mouse brain membranes. Source General Pharmacology. 31(5):747-51, 1998 Nov. Abstract 1. The binding of 60 drugs, mainly steroids, to opioid receptors was studied in crude membrane fractions from mouse brains. 2. Competition assays with the different drugs (5 x 10(-7)-10(-4)M) were performed by labeling opiate receptors with [3H]diprenorphine (0.3-0.4 nM). 3. Only 7 drugs (alpha,5beta- tetrahydrodeoxycorticosterone, megestrol acetate, mifepristone, 17alpha-ethynylestradiol, diethylstilbestrol, clomiphene citrate and tamoxifen citrate) inhibited [3H]diprenorphine binding more than 50% at the highest concentration assayed (10(-4) M). The IC50 values ranged between 6x10(-5) M. 4. Thus, the present results show that only a limited number of steroids, from diverse classes, bind to opiate receptors. --- In low dose naltrexone , " janebee " <bee3@c...> wrote: > I'm 65 and have had MS for 32 years. Guest guest
Hi .. Many have taken LDN with solumedrol or prednisone .. again these are not narcotics ... it is debated as to how they effect the benefits of LDN but there is no medical problem there with 4.5mg or less .. you can start the LDN again whenever suits you. > I'm 65 and have had MS for 32 years. Guest guest
I just finished the 3 days of 1000mg Solu-Medrol yesterday. I didn't stop LDN 4.5. My neuro used to give me a 16 day taper off with Prednisone. The last time he said it was not necessary at all. Now I have a new Neuro and she gave me a 5 day taper off; 6, then 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Go figure. I did not experience any side effects from the Solu-Medrol this time--no swelling, red-face, sleeplessless, irritablility. Of course S-M " cures " all arthritic pain--temporairly. I can stand up straighter, and hope it lasts. I hope the LDN will help stabilize me now. My neuro doesn't even know I am doing LDN since she wouldn't prescribe it. Good Luck with your infusion.
