Guest guest
I had a similar problem shortly after my second shot of Xolair. I developed mild acne on my arms, shoulders, back, and some on my face. This was unusual because even as a teen I did not suffer with severe acne. The problem went away after about two weeks, and has not (so far) recurred, although last night I was having some problems with itching. I had my third shot of Xolair last Friday (10/24). I called NovaFactor and asked Lance the pharmacist if this was a problem. He said he didn't know for sure, but that there were some reported cases in the clinical trials. I had looked up some information on dermatitis on the internet, and did find a correlation between IgE and atopic dermatitis. However, according to Lance, the IgE antibody in Xolair users is 'bound' and should therefore not be the cause. He did tell me to call him and let him know if this continued, because they would list this as a potential side-effect if they got enough feedback. > Is anyone else itching and breaking out in dermatitis and acne all > over the body? > > My doctor says it is probably due to being on prednisone for so long. > I have not seen anything in the side effects of Xolair about itching. > > Doug in Arkansas
Guest guest
I haven't been on the Xolair very long but I can say that I do have skin problems when I'm on pred for any real length of time. I hope everyone's feeling well today. We've had three days of rain here and today I'm short of breath and my chest is tight, but no congestion or anything. Monday and Tuesday I felt as well as I have in MONTHS, which is really rare for me when it rains so hopefully the Xolair is starting to take hold. After 10 injections, I am finally seeing some improvement in my asthma Doug
Guest guest
I am surprised and disappointed that it has taken you 10 injections before seeing improvement. I can't recall - are you getting monthly injections or bi-weekly? I am wondering if a bi-weekly schedule would be better for me. I have to get two injections but I do it on the same day. It seems like I get improvement for about two weeks and then gradual but steady decline in symptoms. Overall, my sense is that I feel better, but I have been doing semi- regular PEF and FEV1 tests that do not seem to indicate significant improvement. However, this is typically a difficult time of year for me (with the leaf molds and late pollen) so it is hard to make an objective evaluation. > > Give it some time. Actually, I was quite shocked when they only required a 35.00 monthy co-pay. I have heard that insurance companies are happy about Xolair because it will be cheaper for them in the long run... no more paying for expensive daily, inhailed steriods...etc... My family doctor's nurse will give me my next two injections on 11-7. I can't wait to tease her about it. LOL Doug
