Guest guest
Hi Addy, My tightness has been going down slightly compared to last year. This time last year I was taking over 30mg of prednizone daily and in bed inside an air conditioned room all day. Yesterday I was out all day with my wife shopping (not too sure if that was relief - just kidding). What a difference! It sometimes does not feel like it is working, but I think the yoga & Xolair combination has been helping me to stregthen my chest muscles to reduce the chest tightness. I just get panic attacks when I know that my chest is about to feel tight which makes this worse and I take shorter breaths and keep puffing on the combivent. The challenge is to calm down the nerves. Do you feel the same? As Doug says, hopefully in a year's time, things will start to work better. But it has been 6 weeks since I took any prednizone now! Doug, I hope you are doing better, and thanks for arranging the chat in June. Ash > Hi, gang, I'm sending this more as a test - I got an email from > that something was wrong with my acct. Guest guest
Ash, I know what you're talking about. My worse period in 2-3 years was last year, esp from June on. My chest was tight about 90% of the time. I was in bed a lot, and gave up doing any shopping except for food and necessities and then I would only go early in the morning when fewer people were present and I would be exposed to fewer germs b/c I knew the prednisone had damaged my immune system. I certainly didn't go to movies or the mall! I know you were glad to get out yesterday (I'll bet your wife was ecstatic). I don't do yoga, but I read this great book a few years ago about Asthma that recommended some breathing exercises, and I do those when I'm starting to get tight. They do help relax me, which stops the panicking, and also force me to breathe more efficiently, increasing my oxygen intake and getting rid of more CO2. I'm glad you are seeing improvement, even if it's going slowly. Like I said before, I still have trouble with drops in barometric pressure and I don't expect that to change. It will be interesting to go back and look at all our posts from October - December, and then see how we are all doing a year later.
