Hi, - I was thinking the same sort of thing after my second shot. For two weeks after the shot (I only get them once a month), my breathing and allergy symptoms were less, even though the pollen was really awful. Then as the pollen lessened, my symptoms worsened, and I thought maybe it was the xolair " wearing off. " So I've paid extra close attention since this shot, my third. The good news (for those who have followed my headache saga) is that this time the headache has been more intermittent, and I haven't taken any darvocet for it (going with the pattern of the other shots, today should be my worst day - and I do feel pretty crummy). And my peak flow seems better - although I'm having major issues with my new peak flow meter. I bought it about two months ago, and it gives very different readings from my old one, which has a crack in the mouthpiece. This one is consistently about 50 units lower than my old one - kind of depressing. I was in Montreal for a conference part of last week. My peak flow was great, the headache was gone. Then I came home, stepped out of the Richmond airport, and my peak flow took a nosedive, the headache was back within hours (in fact, it was really bad when I went for my shot - the nurse wondered how I'd know if the shot gave me a headache when it was already so bad? - but it actually lessened after the shot). I want to move so desperately, and it's on the roadmap - but not for at least another five years. Our air quality here is so poor and it's obvious to me that that's a major part of my headache issues. Joyce
Guest guest
thanks for the advice/info. i'm already on the max dose (3 shots every two weeks) but i'll mention it to my dr...see what she has to say about it. its not that i got from great to horrible in a matter of a few days, but i do notice a slight (10% of so on the PF) decline. thanks heather > yes; it wears off, as the antibody is depleted by binding to IgE (doing its designated function) and also perhaps by your immune system seeking to clear it. You should see if they'll approve more frequent or larger dosages for you. >
Guest guest
Hi , Just to let you know, that you are not alone in how you are feeling. I feel the same way also. I have been taking Xolair since last year, and in the first week I feel great and then I feel it seems to wear off in the second week.
