Guest guest
Doug, So sorry you are back on pred and that you suspect Xolair is not working for you. So frustrating! For the second time, I'm having an allergy attack within hours of getting my allergy shots. I am wondering if the Xolair is helping me and if now my shots are too strong or something. I read a post on another board by someone who has been on Xolair for 4 months and just got another skin test - her reactions were significantly lower to most allergens. I may wait another month or two and then get another skin test also. Addy
Guest guest
Doug.. Sorry things were so bad today. My wife has never had to neb and compared to you her condition is mild indeed. But I know how distressing it is when you can not breathe. My wife had her second Xolair shot last Wednesday with an increased dosage. She was a litle dizzy and had brief blurry vision...maybe a half hour afterwards then these symptoms were gone. She has noticed that her nasal problems felt somewhat better usually for a day after the shot but then she has been getting some chest tightness after that and it lasts for about a week. Before the Xolair she had almost no chest tightness. She hasn't been able to decrease any of her meds...Pulmicort, Nasonex, Zyrtec or Singulair...and that was the primary reason we started on Xolair. As improbable as it may be she seems to feel a bit worse with the Xolair. We know that two months isn't much of a trial but if next month leaves her with more dizziness and blurry vision plus more chest tightness we are going to tell the doctor that the Xolair experiment is over. It doesn't appear to be the miracle drug we had hoped for, at least in my wife's case so far. I do hope it works much better for all of the people on this board. My doctor says it takes some people up to 6 months to a year to see any results. It IS working for some people and I haven't given up yet. Right now, I am worried about ostioprosis (sp) because of all the pred I am taking. I have upped my calcium to 2000 mg a day and am taking a good multi-vitamin.
