3 month mark

Well, I'm at the three month mark with Xolair. I've only taken a

couple of Claritin tablets in the last 6 weeks or so, so that's an

excellent sign. Also no itchy eyes or nose, despite sinus symptoms

that I believe are either related to getting other people's colds or

changes in weather. Certainly this cold weather is terrible on my

head! Oh, and y'all stay at a safe distance b/c I certainly don't

need another sinus infection! Seriously, I hope everyone's feeling

better.

The new ENT was caring, competent, and apologized three times b/c

there's not a thing he can do for me. No deviated septum, no polyps,

no fungus. In fact I have " superior nasal passages. " When he was

asking about how my sinus symptoms typically present and how my

infections typically progress I was complaining about how I can't get

the mucus to drain...it just sits there until the 2nd day of

antibiotic treatment, despite pred and high doses of sudafed. I then

complained about PPA being banned b/c previously 2-3 doses of

Duravent or something with a lot of PPA would get me draining (and I

mean, like 24 hours of non-stop nose blowing) and then I would not

get an infection. He said that the study on which the ban was based

was a poor study - most of the study sample were people who were at

risk of strokes and heart attacks already. If they'd done the same

thing with sudafed, they probably would have gotten the same results.

Well, it's time to go do my sinus rinse now. I hope everyone's

managing the cold weather ok. I'm carrying my nebulizer just about

everywhere this weekend.
