Guest guest
My wife will be starting Xolair next week. Her case seems quite a bit diffferent that several of you. She didn't have even a hint of asthma until she turned 52. She always had a lot of nasal congestion, runny nose, etc...and she had skin tests that showed allergies to a lot of different things. But she could go outside any time of the year, no food allergies or perfume problem. But she does get pneumonia easier and when the weather drops below 55, she is virtually a hermit. She could never leave the house in winter without a really heavy scarf covering her mouth and even then, it seemed like she was sick with a heavy, persistant cough all winter and chest tightness. But she rarely had to use a rescue inhalor...once a month. She is on pulmicort, nasonex, singulair, and protonix (for GERT). When I retired last June we moved to Florida where we escape most of the ravages of the winter and she has been feeling better. Her new allergist wanted to start her on Xolair and the insurance company will pay all but $46 a month. So we thought, why not try it, if she could eventually get off the Nasonex and especially the Pulmicort...or, at least, cut back on the dosages. I have read even single post on this forum so I am up to date on the progress each of you has made. I just hope it works well for my wife. Good luck to all of you.
