Guest guest
Hi, I'll be starting Xolair in a couple of weeks. I'm an allergic asthmatic (33 years, alas) with a really high IgE level, multiple episodes annually, multiple prednisone tapers annually and so forth. My insurance company is covering Xolair 100% but only if I get it at the doctors office and only after the doctors office contacted NovaFactor after trying another specialty pharmacy first (not NovaFactor). First specialty pharmacy told my dr's office that they'd have to pay for Xolair up front and bill insurance themselves and that it would cost $1650 per dose. It's taken 3 months, but NovaFactor called me Wed and things are going to work out. I really hope it works for me. I can't take much more of the side effects of prednisone (including the withdrawal symptoms). I had a bone density test this summer that already showed some bone loss. > > hi > > i am not currently on xolair, but my doc thinks i may need it. > does > > the insurance pay for it, or have any of you had lots of problems > to > > get the insurance to pay for it. > > > > have also thought about starting on immunotherapy " allergy > > shots " again too. > > that can also decrease the IgE Ag levels but is not as quick as > > xolair. > > > > have a great day > > > > matt > > Matt, > > My Doctor did all the ordering and filing for me.
