Guest guest
I totally get it about repeated infections and lowered immune system due to pred. I just finished my fifth round of antibiotics in 4 months. The problem is, I cannot not take pred once the infection sets in. I'm seeing a new ENT next week - he's supposed to be the best one for miles - to make sure there's nothing else I can do related to these sinus infections I keep getting, as I cannot just get a cold. Meanwhile, I just finished the book " Coping with Prednisone. " If y'all haven't yet read it, I highly recommend it. I'm not sure if I can follow the strict diet recommendations but I can try. My insurance company covers Xolair 100% - which is a Godsend since my copays on all my other meds are $30 and $45 per month. The co-pay for my pulmo visits is $40 per; my work pays about 80% of my insurance premiums thank God. I hope everyone's having a healthy weekend. Guest guest
What is your therapy of choice for your nasal/sinus problems? Are you on a nasal steroid like nasonex/flonase. My pulmonologist gave me a very simple home remedy that has helped me for years to the point I rarely even have nasal conjestion or use a nasal steroid. The home remedy is to make a mixture of warm salt water or when in the shower try and snort the warm water into your nasal passages. It sound gross even difficult but it works for me. Another way is to buy a saline spray from a pharmacy and do the same. I think the key is the to have warm water/mixture to inhale. I hope I don't sound to pushy being a new member but this is the first group I've found that has the same level of asthma that I have and has been through the wringer with every therapy known to the disease state. I also want all hear to know I have a pharmaceutical background in sales and sales management. My background is in anti-infective IV and oral, and asthma/allergy. I am no longer in the field for personal reasons. I understand without pharmaceutical companies research and development we wouldn't have Xolair and other breakthroughs. Lets just say the business has a well spring of good and evil.If I can be a resource for your antibiotic or asthma/allergy questions feel free to ask or email directly. Thanks again and good breathing to all. Bill Pucci > I totally get it about repeated infections and lowered immune system > due to pred. I just finished my fifth round of antibiotics in 4 > months.
