So the dairy issue can't be the whole thing. I used to live on cheese, butter, ice cream and sour cream when I did eat and was fine. I mostly avoided dairy when sick. Just can't figure out why it worse right now!
Guest guest
How can you be exclusively tube fed? I thought those tube foods (like Hyperale -sp?) eventually cause liver failure? It's normally used for a few days. Tolerex (by mouth or feeding tube) can also cause troubles if miss used i guess. But I have a feeding tube and can use any liquid food (drinks, pureed soup, yogurt, juice, soy drinks, ensure type drinks...) same as being on a no chew diet but it goes right in my belly. Many people have this (cancer, aids, cp...) and do fine.
Guest guest
Taleah's exclusively tube fed. You can put anything through the g-tube that you can blend enough to be liquid. While Taleah gets a base of Tolerex formula she also gets fruits, veggies, juice, vitamins - we just put them all in the blender together. Makes for some interesting colors, though - today it's spinach, beets and raspberries, looks like we're feeding her blood. We get some strange looks, but I like her to have real foods with real fiber, real antioxidants, and vitamins/minerals from a food source rather than just from a supplements even though every drop of her nutrition goes through the tube into her tummy. Guest guest
hyperale is IV nutrients, and yes that causes liver damage, not g tube feeds. kimi
Guest guest
Have any of you been precribed pulmozyme? It is used in cysticfibrosis and emphasyema for bringing up phlem. My friend who passed away turned me onto the drug for the nebulizer. It works for me and helps me fight infection and relaxes my bronchial tubes. Ask you doc, he may give you resistance but ask if you can give it a try. BP
Guest guest
Have not tried pulmozyme. Sounds helpful. Regarding previous post: I irrigate with salt water with baking soda on a regular basis. Also use Astelin and Rhinocort daily. Used to use Flonase, but I felt it was no longer working so switched to Rhinocort last month. Doug, I'm sorry you're going to have to up your pred. I hope you're feeling better soon. I haven't spoken to my nurse yet, so I haven't upped my pred as of this posting. Asthma is a little better but an arctic blast of cold weather after a day of temps in the 80's does NOT help.
