Guest guest
Hi, I just found your group and I am waiting to start xolair therapy (hopefully this Thursday)if insurance approves it. I have been an Asthma/Allergy sufferer almost all my life (since age 1), with my most recent test results coming up with positive/high IgE levels for almost all environmental, indoor and food allergens, this situation is pretty scary (even for a lifelong sufferer like me)! I am now 39 years old, and have run out of other options. My allergic asthma and seasonal allergies are making my life intolerable (this year seems to be the worst one yet). The person who recommended the Xolair therapy to me is my new doc, a pulmonologist. Up to this point, my regular asthma maintenance included taking prednisone at least twice a year (sometimes getting hospitalized for bad asthma flare ups), plus using two maintenance inhalers and way, way too much of the Proventil rescue inhaler. Even the nebulizer that I began to use late last year made no significant difference in my overall symptoms. I still end up waking up either breathless or wheezing badly and if its a high pollen day, I will be wheezing within minutes of going outside. So after reading alot about this med, I am looking forward to breathing easier and not having to worry abt the steroid effects anymore! In the very least it is bringing hope where there was little else before. Cari
