Guest guest
Hi All: Had my first Xolair injections three hours ago, and so far, so good! No redness or swelling at the site of the shots (one in each arm), but if I think about it, I could have a slight headache........probably the result of the stress I put myself through over getting the shots. I was given a 300 mg dosage.........is this what the majority of you receive? I told my allergist about this online support group, she was pleased to learn about it, and asked me if the majority of you are from the Philadelphia, PA area. She said that that area has a lot of patients on Xolair because it was a test marketing area for the drug. Anyway, I'm just glad to have received the medication and am eager to see if it helps. Thanks for all the help! Marge

How am I now you ask? I am COMPLETELY off of Prednisone and Pulmacort and only have to take my Combivent Inhailer once or twice a day. The next medication the doc is going to wean me off of is the Advair 500/50. ! Give it some time to get to work. Remember, Xolair is not a " fast acting " rescue medication like Albuterol or Combivent. It took a whole 6 months for me to get any results. Others in this group got relief a little sooner. It works differently with everyone but the end results are FANTASTIC I was the first patient to get Xolair in the State of Arkansas. Now there are quite a few. Guest guest
Marge, That's great news that things are going well so far! I'll bet the headache is more from the stress than anything else. Please let us know by the weekend if you continue without reaction to the Xolair. Addy

I feel so sorry that you had such a terrible night. Hope you are feeling better this morning later. Anastasia > > >
Guest guest
Definitely call your doctor. I'm sorry to hear you are sick again. You can't rule out a reaction to the Xolair yet. On the other hand, if you've been taking a lot of pred off and on recently, your immune function could be so low that you could have picked up a virus just being in the doctor's office. That has certainly happened to me before. Hang in there and let us know how you are doing. Addy

Don't give up on the Xolair unless your doctor thinks it is in your best interest. Trust his/her opinions first!!! So many of us have been helped by Xolair and we want you to be one of the ones who gets a huge benefit from it too Doug Group founder (on Xolair since September 2003)
Guest guest
Hi Marge, I would listen to what everyone are saying. Talk to your doctor first and immediately and let him know how you are feeling. When I first got my injections, my doctor would not let me leave for the first hour after the injection. He also gave me an 'epipen " which works for 15 minutes, incase if you get an allergic reaction to the injection. But, all this depends on what your doctor recommends. Even after 8 months of taking the injection, i still get very drowsy after my injections. The next day i get up drowsy and tired. Originally I had flu like symptoms also, but i was desparate to work through it. Now it does not happen any more. I hope that helps. Talk to us online, and always talk to your Doctor.
