Guest guest
I created this room just for people like us. My asthma story is quite different. I had it all through the 50's and 60's as a child and outgrew it in the early 70's. I still took allergy injections for sinus problems. I would get an " attack " every once and a while (not very often) take some primitine mist and I'd be ok for another year or so. I even was a smoker from 1969-1982. I might have had 3 attacks at the most during those years. Well, I quit smoking in 82 and moved to NC in 1985. As we were moving, I started getting chronic but mild asthma and I have had it ever since. Usually the neb meds (albuterol, intal, etc....) would always do the trick but within the past 6 months NOTHING has helped. Well, my doctor immediately got me in as a candidate for Xolair. The blood test said that my figures were high. I will go for my 9th and 10th shot tomorrow. So far, I have been able to cut my pred down from 30 to 15mg a day and my peak flows are higher. (I wonder if my at home peak flow meter is broken or something) I will find out tomorrow. Hey, invite other asthma sufferers to join us. You know that this group has a live chat room built in. Here soon, we need to schedule a chat. I will be out of town till late Monday evening, so I can't schedule one any time soon. Better breathing to all, Doug
