Guest guest
hi homer! i had a very gradual improvement - i started seeing improvement after about 4 or 5 months after starting xolair, and continued to notice a gradual improvement for and additional 5-6 months. i get three shots every two weeks. have a great day! heather HomerSwei <homerswei@...> wrote: Anyone out there just starting xolair therapy. I just got my second shot yesterday. I get them once a month. Haven't seen dramatic improvement yet, but I understand it could take several months. My question to those on xolair shots, did you find the asthma/allergy symptoms to slowly improve with time/shots...or did you see a sudden improvement after hitting the critical time/number shots. Appreciate anyone who could share their experience with me. Homer ---------------------------------
Guest guest
I hope I can explain exactly what my Pulmonary Doctor just told me. He was actually a part of the Xolair study so he attempted to explain to me how it works. He said that generally the first injection gives most people quite a jolt and they feel pretty good for about a week before it starts to taper off. This is because you have had nothing in your body yet. From that point on, the injections dont give you quite the dramatic jolt you may have gotten from the first one. He stated that the " peaks and valleys " are shorter and shorter until the feeling just kind of levels off and you feel good. I have to agree. The first shot I received I felt great for only about a week. I just had my 4th set of shots and I have some pretty good days and some pretty bad days. He advised me not to get discouraged and stated that due to the " half life of the drug, it takes 3-4 sets of injections just to get things going " . I am disappointed because I hoped it would be a miracle! I must say that after four sets of injections I do feel better. The pressure feeling is gone from my chest, but I still have many, many days where it is difficult to get in a real good breath. The pollen is flying all over right now and as soon as I go outside, I get that funny feeling in my chest that feels like someone has lined my breathing tubes with Kleenex. Thats the only way I can describe my sensation. I suspect it will only get better, but I wish it would happen soon...!! --- In , " HomerSwei " <homerswei@y...> wrote: > Anyone out there just starting xolair therapy.
