Guest guest
This is what is called 'unmasking'apparently some symptoms worsen as an allergy becomes less severe. I am being treated with EPD (Enzyme potentiated desensitization) and EPD patients or informed that this might happen. All of a sudden symptoms seem to become worse before the get better. > Last couple of weeks have been crazy for me. That is the only side effect I have ever had. Don't worry, it will clear up. Guest guest
if it means anything (i'm not sure it has anything to do with your sympotoms) i read ALL the prescribing info on xolair (ENT ran 90 minutes late and i was so bored). in the prescribing info, it says your IgE actually becomes elevated on the xolair. they gave the reasoning, but i can't remember. a bunch of science blabbing. (i can find it if you want) maybe this has something to do with your reactions??? feel better heather
Guest guest
Marie, I think I just read the same thing in the book Changing The Course of Autism. Janice reccommended this so I got it today. Just read the forward of the book and my gosh, you better run right out and get it, wether your child is autistic or not. Guest guest
We saw positive change immediately but my celiac child was less affected than what you are describing. I would seriously consider gfcfsf and watching aluminum. We got skills but it was only when we considered all of that and saw other allergens in the path that we started toward true health. We are still not there but hopefully soon. Consider IGG testing and all the stuff in te files here. I suspect your deal goes beyond celiac. And please review the syndrome Dr. is studying. > > Hi, > My little guy has been disgnosed with Celiac disease and I was > wondering for those of you that have been using diet to help your > children if they went through a withdrawal after starting GF? Guest guest
Yes, he sounds very uncomfortable. It's time for you to play poop patrol and tell us 'explicitly' what is happening. You need to stabilize this poop. Diarrhea, constipation, a little of both.... these are all no-no's. If he is 'posturing' (holding his gut & applying pressure by leaning), it tells me that he is either impacted or full of gas. Is his stomach distended? We need all of the ugly details so that we can help you sort through this..... Janice [sPAM][ ] Withdrawal symptoms? Hi, My little guy has been disgnosed with Celiac disease and I was wondering for those of you that have been using diet to help your children if they went through a withdrawal after starting GF? He has been GF for 3 weeks now and the first week was great but this week(3) his sensory stuff is high and he seems to be having something going on in his gut area. We are only guessing at this b/c of his particular behavior and b/c he is non-verbal. He seems to be uncomfortable at times and seems to enjoy putting pressure in his gut region. It's driving me crazy that I don't know what's going on? Guest guest
We had this in the very beginning. I remember one horrible night where it was horrific. He ate so many bananas, we had no idea what we were doing and he was so very uncomfortable and pooped so very much. It was horrific. I am still haunted by what I did not see on the inside. He slept a lot. I remember that was one of two times I thought I'd lose him. We went GFCFSF and off bad water too abruptly. I see that in hidsight now. The horrific banana night is in the archives described in full detail. I think it was in June. If you read the krigsman paper, also in the archives, you will know what is going on. Brind Vodka or something when you read it though. Something GFCF and numbing like that. > > Yes, he sounds very uncomfortable. > > It's time for you to play poop patrol and tell us 'explicitly' what is happening. You need to stabilize this poop. Guest guest
well, it's hard to tell what exactly is going in my little guy's gut. His issues have been constipation which led us to the Celiac diagnosis. This behavior isn't new, it's seems to cycle with him. In the past we thought he has withholding or it was constipation. We have had him x-rayed (TWICE), I think it was last summer, and at that time he was " backed up " even though we would change him 5-6 times a day. This all led to the recent disgnosis of Celiac disease. So this week (WEEK 3 of GF) he is consistently having BM's and seems not to be backed up BUT something is going on with his gut. He's sensory seeking input into that area. I've got some other info that it may take up to 6 weeks to heal his gut so I'm hoping that's what's going on. My guess is that it is gas, his stomach is a bit distended for being on a regular schedule this week. Today, he's been much better with that particular behavior but very, very emotional. I'm just trying to get through the day. m [sPAM][ ] Withdrawal symptoms? Guest guest
How is he on the full moon.... I know that sounds silly but kids with parasites tend to cycle and get worse around the full moon. Parasites have a cycle of approx. 3 weeks. Because he is recently GF, he may have some withdrawal issues so that cannot be ruled out. Generally that is over in about a week or two. In addition, if you suspect constipation, up the vitamin C. Dr. McCandless recommends upping buffered vitamin C almost to the point of diarrhea and then backing off a bit for many of the kids. I used a lot of vitamin C until my sons gut got under control. We used a lot of cherries to keep things flowing but you need to be careful as you can get too much action happening. Prunes are also good too. Mark also had a lot of gas when we changed his diet as well. Try to keep things simple and plain for a couple of days to see if you can stabilize it. Janice [sPAM][ ] Withdrawal symptoms? Guest guest
I think some more stuff is at play. What we saw was a need to remove more than gluten: dairy, rice and corn and we cycled in foods pureed at first based on digestibility (raking at pecanbread.org). We looked for reactions ( we had them to beans and tomatoes) and retested. Only at 8 months can we do more and have meat more regularly. Fava bean flour remains an issue. > > How is he on the full moon.... I know that sounds silly but kids with parasites tend to cycle and get worse around the full moon. Guest guest
Could take up to 8 weeks but the guts in my house, celiac and gluten sensitive, are still healing 8 onths later. Do the IGG test, avoid aluminum and packaged stuff. Save yourself from all I have seen. I wish I knew then what I know now. > > well, it's hard to tell what exactly is going in my little guy's gut. Guest guest
Make it the first you read then the McCarthy one. Don't bother reading on celiac until you do this. If you need more books I have a list for you. > > Thanks Colleen, I'll add it to my growing list of books to read. > > m > > > RE: [ ] Withdrawal symptoms? > > > Marie, > > I think I just read the same thing in the book Changing The Course of > Autism.
