Guest guest
Dear Friends: I have just returned from a lovely 4 day stay at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. I currently am struggling with 3 areas of concern: (1) Seizures that have changed so that I no longer remember certain events; (2) Severe abdominal pain that migrated; and (3) severe, piercing knifelike pain in my lower back, in the exact same spot where I had osteomyelitis last year [bone infection]. I also have sores all over my body [minor detail]... So, I was on my way to a vacation in St. Maarten with my family when I ended up in the E.R. and I sent my family on ahead to the islands. I WAS ADMITTED TO THE PSYCH/MED WARD!!! WHY????? Because they didn't believe my pain!! So, I [and my mother, because I was in too much pain to care], ended up " bartering " for certain tests. That's right - I said we had to BARTER %$#^%$#^%$!! The arrogant doctor who claimed there was nothing wrong with me, and then bragged that he never listened to patients who demanded tests, said that he would make a deal with me: I could have any two tests of my choice IF and only IF I agreed to a Psych evaluation. So, I chose a nuclear bone scan of the back, and an endoscopic exam for my abdominal pain. True to his word, the doctor sent in his gastro enterologist colleague who told me that my pain was most likely " phantom pain " from having my gall bladder out because women are particularly sensitive to this. She then did an endoscopic exam and found a 2 1/2 inch wide peptic ulcer with " acute " inflammation, and a " sliding " hiatal hernia. She actually cried out in exclamation that she didn't expect to see that!! In the meantime, the bone scan and psych tests were done. The shrink actually asked me: " Do you see or hear things that others don't?!!!!LOL!!! I said " You mean like Joan of Arc? " He said yes, and I said " No, but I wish I would! " After that, the psych test was over because they figured that I wasn't really " faking " it because they had the significant abdominal findings. Also, I ended up with green bowel movements in the hospital, but no one seemed concerned about that... As for the bone scan, I'm going for an MRI tomorrow to corroborate the need for a titanium plate to be placed in my L4-L5 area of the spine to relieve the pain. FRUSTRATION DOES NOT BEGIN TO DESCRIBE WHAT I AM GOING THROUGH!!! I eventually went off to the islands to catch up with my family, mellowed out, and decided that it was better to get even than to get mad. So, I'm pondering how many lawsuits I'm going to file.... Cheers and TOFU!!! Lovette
Guest guest
Wow, Lovette, you could maybe get enough to pay for your treatment! What a bunch of bullshit!!!! WHY don't drs. believe that people are having PAIN!!!! Like it's really going to rub some skin off their nose. Take care and get that ulcer healed up. The human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it. C.
Guest guest
Hi, everybody. I've been having email problems and between that and a lot of stuff at work and my parents making it through Hurricane Ivan (they live about an hour from each other but both live in the FL panhandle), I haven't had time to resolve the email issues until today. I've missed a lot of posts and don't have too much time to catch up. I'm glad you all have been active while I've been gone. Take care, Addy
